IT Support Engineer Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a it support engineer in Texas?
Texas does not require a state-issued license to work as an it support engineer. The standard path is completing an associate or bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field, followed by entry-level certifications such as CompTIA A+ or Network+. Many Texas employers, including large healthcare systems and corporate headquarters in Dallas and Austin, treat these certifications as a hiring baseline alongside a short period of helpdesk experience.
How much do IT support engineers make in Texas?
IT support engineers in Texas earn a median of about $59,490 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $38,690 for the lowest 10% to over $90,140 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire it support engineers in Texas?
Employers hiring it support engineers in Texas right now include Amazon, LTIMindtree, and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's dense concentration of corporate headquarters, regional data centers, and large healthcare networks means demand is spread across multiple industries rather than a single sector.
Which Texas cities have the most it support engineer jobs?
Austin, Dallas, and Plano have the most it support engineer openings in Texas. Dallas leads because of its high density of corporate headquarters and regional operations centers, Austin's growing technology industry drives steady volume, and Houston's large energy, healthcare, and petrochemical sectors create consistent demand for on-site and enterprise support roles.
Are there remote it support engineer jobs in Texas?
Yes, but they're more limited than in purely desk-based roles. About 15% of it support engineer openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting that much of the work requires hands-on access to hardware, networks, and end users. The portions of the role most likely to be done remotely are Tier 2 software troubleshooting, remote desktop support, and cloud administration tasks.
How can I get hired as a it support engineer in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is earning a CompTIA A+ certification, which many Texas corporate employers and healthcare systems treat as proof of foundational competency even without a degree. Large Texas employers like Dell Technologies and Texas-based hospital networks regularly hire candidates into helpdesk technician or IT associate roles as a stepping stone. Moving laterally from customer service, retail electronics, or administrative assistant roles that involve daily software troubleshooting is also a recognized path, and building a small home lab or cloud environment strengthens any application.
Where can I find and apply to it support engineer jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to it support engineer jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings across industries and cities. Search the available roles, find the ones that match your experience and location, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
