Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership and Field Support

• Serve as a senior technical resource and subject matter expert for electrical acceptance testing, maintenance testing, and commissioning activities.
• Provide technical guidance to field technicians on testing procedures, equipment operation, test results, troubleshooting, and interpretation of applicable standards.
• Support complex or challenging field assignments, helping teams resolve technical issues and determine appropriate next steps.
• Promote consistent application of industry standards, manufacturer requirements, approved procedures, and Vector Power technical practices.
• Share lessons learned, technical updates, and best practices across field teams.
• Assist with developing and maintaining technical procedures, work instructions, checklists, and reference materials.

Technical Training and Mentorship

• Deliver practical, hands-on technical training to technicians in the field and, as needed, in a shop or classroom setting.
• Mentor junior and developing technicians to strengthen their technical knowledge, testing skills, judgment, and confidence.
• Support onboarding and technical development programs for new hires and experienced employees transitioning into new responsibilities.
• Identify technical skill gaps and recommend targeted training, coaching, or development opportunities.
• Assist in developing training materials, competency assessments, and practical demonstrations.
• Reinforce proper testing techniques, equipment handling, documentation practices, and professional conduct at client sites.
• Help establish a consistent approach to technical knowledge transfer across teams and locations.

Quality Assurance and Technical Report Review

• Review electrical testing reports for technical accuracy, completeness, consistency, and compliance with applicable requirements.
• Identify errors, omissions, inconsistencies, or unusual test results and work with technicians and project teams to resolve them.
• Provide constructive feedback to improve report quality, technical documentation, and the presentation of results.
• Support the development and maintenance of report templates, review checklists, and quality-control procedures.
• Identify recurring technical or documentation issues and recommend corrective actions and process improvements.
• Contribute to quality initiatives, internal audits, lessons-learned reviews, and continuous improvement activities.
• Support consistent application of quality standards across projects and field teams.

PowerDB Configuration and User Support

• Support PowerDB setup and configuration to align with project requirements, equipment specifications, testing procedures, and Vector Power standards.
• Assist with creating, reviewing, and maintaining equipment test forms, templates, test plans, and related database information.
• Train technicians and other users on appropriate PowerDB functionality, data entry, test execution, report generation, and troubleshooting.
• Provide technical support for PowerDB-related questions and help resolve common user and workflow issues.
• Promote consistent data entry, recordkeeping, and reporting practices.
• Identify opportunities to improve PowerDB workflows, templates, and reporting efficiency.
• Coordinate with relevant technical, project, and administrative personnel to maintain accurate and usable testing records.

Safety and Technical Compliance

• Support Vector Power’s safety initiatives by reinforcing safe work practices, electrical safety requirements, and adherence to approved procedures.
• Incorporate safety expectations into field coaching, training, and technical guidance.
• Identify and communicate potential hazards, unsafe conditions, procedural gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
• Work collaboratively with Safety, Quality, and Operations personnel to support corrective actions and continuous improvement.
• Promote stop-work authority and a culture in which employees prioritize safety over schedule or production pressures.
• Help ensure technical practices align with applicable standards, client requirements, and company policies.

Collaboration and Continuous Improvement

• Collaborate with field leadership, project managers, technicians, engineering personnel, and other stakeholders to resolve technical challenges.
• Provide input on equipment, tools, training resources, procedures, and technical systems.
• Support the rollout of new technical processes, tools, and training initiatives.
• Maintain awareness of relevant industry standards, testing practices, equipment developments, and technical requirements.
• Contribute to building a culture of technical excellence, accountability, teamwork, and client service.

• Education in Electrical Engineering Technology or a related field (certificate or diploma), or an Electrical Engineering degree preferred.
• Prior experience as an electrical technician or similar professional is a strong asset.
• NETA level 3 or 4 certification is preferred.
• Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English is mandatory to maintain a safe workplace.
• You must hold a valid driver's license and not require high-risk insurance or have provisional driving restrictions. Being able to operate a motor vehicle under general fleet guidelines is critical in this field-based role.

Position Summary

Senior Technical Specialist – Electrical Testing will serve as a subject matter expert and technical resource for our field service teams. The Senior Technical Specialist will provide hands-on technical training and mentorship to technicians, support complex field assignments, contribute to safety and quality initiatives, assist with technical report reviews, and support the configuration, implementation, and use of PowerDB. The successful candidate will help establish consistent technical practices, strengthen technician competency, and promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement across Vector Power.
