Fashion Jobs in Georgia: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a fashion professional in Georgia?
Georgia does not require a state-issued license for most fashion roles, so entry depends on education and portfolio. A degree in fashion design, merchandising, or retail management from programs at schools like Savannah College of Art and Design or Georgia State University strengthens applications considerably. For design and creative roles, a strong portfolio is the primary credential employers evaluate, while buying and merchandising positions typically require retail or analytical coursework.
Which companies hire fashions in Georgia?
Employers hiring fashions in Georgia right now include Walmart, AKIRA, and Signet Jewelers, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Atlanta's concentration of retail headquarters and Carter's global base make it the most consistent source of full-time fashion openings in the state.
Which Georgia cities have the most fashion jobs?
Atlanta, Monroe, and Statesboro have the most fashion openings in Georgia. Atlanta dominates due to its headquarters-dense retail and apparel sector, while Savannah benefits from its proximity to SCAD and a growing creative economy, and smaller metro areas see demand driven by regional retail chains and boutique operations.
Are there remote fashion jobs in Georgia?
Yes, but they're rare. About 50% of fashion openings tied to Georgia are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how much of the work involves physical samples, showrooms, retail floors, or in-person fittings. The roles most likely to be remote or hybrid are trend research, e-commerce merchandising, and digital marketing positions within fashion brands.
How can I get hired as a fashion professional in Georgia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a retail floor or visual merchandising assistant role at one of Atlanta's major department stores or national retailers, which regularly hire candidates without prior fashion-specific experience. Large Georgia employers like Macy's and Carter's run associate and coordinator programs that develop new talent. A portfolio, even from academic or personal projects, gives creative candidates a clear edge, and completing a certificate or coursework at SCAD or Georgia State adds immediate credibility.
Where can I find and apply to fashion jobs in Georgia?
You can find and apply to fashion jobs in Georgia on Migrate Mate, which lists current Georgia openings across Atlanta, Savannah, and other markets. Find roles that fit your background and apply directly to the employer from each listing.
