Field Service Representative Jobs in Montana: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a field service representative in Montana?
Most field service representatives in Montana start with an associate degree or technical certificate from a program at Montana State University Billings, Flathead Valley Community College, or one of the state's other technical colleges, followed by manufacturer-specific training provided by the hiring employer. No single state-issued license governs the role, but electricians and HVAC technicians entering the field must hold an active Montana journeyman or contractor license through the Montana Department of Labor and Industry before performing those trades in the field.
Which companies hire field service representatives in Montana?
Companies currently hiring field service representatives in Montana include EchoStar, Spring Hill Suites, and Canyon Creek Financial, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Montana's energy extraction, agricultural equipment, and medical device sectors consistently generate the steadiest volume of field service openings across the state.
Which Montana cities have the most field service representative jobs?
Billings, Bozeman, and Helena have the most field service representative openings in Montana. Billings drives the largest share because it is the state's commercial hub and home to the region's oil refining, agricultural distribution, and healthcare technology operations, while Great Falls and Missoula add volume through their manufacturing facilities and regional medical centers.
Are there remote field service representative jobs in Montana?
Yes, but they are rare. Field service representative work is fundamentally hands-on, requiring on-site equipment installation, repair, or inspection, which limits how much of the role can be done remotely. About 29% of field service representative openings tied to Montana are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those positions tend to involve remote technical support, documentation, or account coordination rather than direct fieldwork.
How can I get hired as a field service representative in Montana with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is completing a two-year technical program at Montana State University Billings or Flathead Valley Community College and applying to manufacturer apprenticeship or new-hire training programs that companies like Caterpillar and Halliburton run at their Montana facilities. Candidates coming from adjacent roles such as equipment operator, maintenance technician, or parts counter associate have a strong foundation employers recognize. Earning a Montana journeyman electrician or HVAC license while in training gives applicants a clear credential advantage when applying to energy or facilities-focused field service positions.
Where can I find and apply to field service representative jobs in Montana?
You can find and apply to field service representative jobs in Montana on Migrate Mate, which lists current Montana openings updated regularly. Search the listings for roles that match your experience and specialty, then apply directly to the ones that fit your background.
