Field Service Technician Jobs in Odessa, TX

The Heavy Equipment Field Technician is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and servicing a wide range of heavy construction equipment,mostly CAT brand at customer job sites. This position requires strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills, the ability to work independently in the field, and a commitment to providing exceptional customer service while ensuring equipment reliability and uptime.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on heavy equipment and machinery.
• Troubleshoot hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and engine-related issues.
• Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and recommend corrective actions.
• Respond to field service calls and provide timely repairs at customer locations.
• Read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and service bulletins.
• Inspect equipment to identify safety concerns and potential failures.
• Accurately document service work, parts usage, labor hours, and repair recommendations.
• Maintain service vehicle inventory, tools, and equipment.
• Communicate effectively with customers regarding equipment condition, repair status, and maintenance recommendations.
• Ensure compliance with company safety policies and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Must have one's own hand tools.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical or vocational training preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience repairing and maintaining heavy equipment.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, powertrain components, and mobile equipment diagnostics.
• Experience using electronic diagnostic software and service tools.
• Ability to read and understand technical documentation and schematics.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.

• Ability to work in environments involving noise, dust, vibration, and heavy machinery.

Work Environment

This position primarily operates in field environments, including construction sites, industrial facilities, mines, and customer locations. Travel within the assigned service territory is required, and occasional overtime or emergency service response may be necessary.
