Finance Administrator Jobs in North Dakota: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a finance administrator in North Dakota?
Most finance administrator positions in North Dakota require at minimum an associate degree in accounting or business administration, though a bachelor's degree is increasingly preferred by larger employers such as hospital systems and energy cooperatives. North Dakota does not issue a state license specific to this role, but candidates who earn credentials like the Certified Public Bookkeeper designation or pursue CPA licensure through the North Dakota State Board of Accountancy gain a clear competitive edge in hiring.
Which companies hire finance administrators in North Dakota?
Employers hiring finance administrators in North Dakota right now include Knife River, Basin Electric Power Cooperative, and Red E, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. North Dakota's healthcare networks, rural electric cooperatives, and state agency offices generate some of the most consistent demand for this role across the region.
Which North Dakota cities have the most finance administrator jobs?
The North Dakota cities with the most finance administrator openings are Fargo, Bismarck, and Williston. Bismarck leads because of its concentration of state government offices and health system headquarters, Fargo draws volume from its larger private sector and university presence, and Grand Forks is anchored by Altru Health System and the University of North Dakota, both of which maintain ongoing finance department hiring.
Are there remote finance administrator jobs in North Dakota?
Yes, and more than many office-based roles, since finance administrator work is largely desk-based and document-driven. About 0% of finance administrator openings tied to North Dakota are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how broadly this work can be done off-site. Budgeting, reporting, and accounts payable processing are the functions most likely to appear in remote or hybrid arrangements.
How can I get hired as a finance administrator in North Dakota with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is an accounts payable or billing coordinator role, which North Dakota healthcare systems such as Sanford Health and Altru Health System hire for regularly and treat as a pipeline into broader finance administration. Completing an associate degree in accounting from a North Dakota university or community college, or obtaining a Certified Public Bookkeeper credential, signals readiness to employers. Lateral moves from payroll processing, office management, or medical billing also open doors to full finance administrator titles without prior direct experience.
Where can I find and apply to finance administrator jobs in North Dakota?
