MAJOR FUNCTION:
Performs accounting functions as described herein and all required secretarial services for the division, as well as other duties as assigned. Will work with many Officers throughout the entire bank, which may include, but is not limited to, Lending, Information Technology, Customer Service, Operations and Human Resource functions. Will be responsible for reports and documents that are often highly confidential and/or sensitive and must therefore adhere to strict confidentiality with bank and customer information. Time sensitive deadlines will dictate priority of work at various times.
RESPONSIBILITES:
- Preparing, assembling and distributing reports for Committee and Board meetings.
- General ledger reconciliation including documentation and adjustment determination, preparation of journal entries, analysis of financial accounts and irregularities resolution.
- Conducts day-to-day corporate accounting activities, billing and inventory reporting, track expenses, transactional accounting, cost management, cash flow analyses and financial project reviews.
- Assist in the preparation of the bank and holding company financial statements and related reports.
- Develop and maintain complex computer-based analyses and reports of financial institution accounting records and provide to management on a regular basis.
- Monitors fixed asset management.
- Cross train with Accounting Officer on the following.
a. Investment portfolio activities.
b. Correspondent bank activities/postings.
c. Accrual/Prepaid
- Interacts with bank personnel to ensure compliance with established accounting procedures.
- Track information for and prepare state sales and use tax reports.
10. Complete all initial and annual training requirements as outlined by ASBT.
11. Perform all other duties as required, consistent with the goals, objectives and responsibilities of the administrative and/or operations function.
Requirements:QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate degree in accounting or related field and/or significant employment experience with exposure to the accounting areas.
- Experience in theoretical and practical accounting.
- Excellent computer skills, especially spread sheet analysis. Proficient use of Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat Pro and Power Point.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, organizational and financial management skills are necessary.
- Must be self-motivated, able to work independently, and willing to upgrade and enhance skills as necessary through self-study and/or formal training.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Confidentiality and tactfulness in dealing with bank and customer information is mandatory.
- Ability to conduct relationships with co-workers, customers, the community and the overall public in a manner which will enhance the bank’s image and comprehensive marketing effort.
- Will be called upon from time to time to participate with community organizations and projects.
- Work closely with the bank’s tax accountants and other consultants on various issues.
