Finance Specialist Jobs in Delaware: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a finance specialist in Delaware?
A bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or business administration is the standard entry point for finance specialist roles in Delaware. Delaware does not require a state-issued license specifically for finance specialists, but employers in Wilmington's heavily regulated financial services sector strongly favor candidates with a CPA or CFA credential, or demonstrated progress toward one. Strong Excel skills and familiarity with ERP systems are consistently expected across industries.
How much do finance specialists make in Delaware?
Finance specialists in Delaware earn a median of about $80,610 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $59,810 for the lowest 10% to over $129,360 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire finance specialists in Delaware?
Companies currently hiring finance specialists in Delaware include JPMorganChase, Chemours, and Ryder System, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Delaware's concentration of corporate headquarters, particularly in Wilmington's financial district, means many openings are with large, established firms rather than startups.
Which Delaware cities have the most finance specialist jobs?
Wilmington, Newark, and Dover have the most finance specialist openings in Delaware. Wilmington dominates because it is home to the corporate headquarters and regional offices of major banks and financial institutions, while Newark benefits from proximity to the University of Delaware and a growing commercial base, and Dover draws openings from state government agencies and healthcare organizations.
Are there remote finance specialist jobs in Delaware?
Yes, and more than many fields. About 67% of finance specialist openings tied to Delaware are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the desk-based and analytical nature of the work. Financial reporting, budgeting analysis, and accounts reconciliation roles are the most commonly offered in remote or hybrid arrangements, particularly at larger corporate employers headquartered in Wilmington.
How can I get hired as a finance specialist in Delaware with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a finance analyst associate or financial operations coordinator role, which Delaware banks and corporations in Wilmington regularly post for new graduates. Large employers like JPMorgan Chase and Bank of America run structured associate rotational programs that accept candidates with a finance or accounting degree and limited experience. Lateral entry from accounts payable, payroll, or bookkeeping positions is also common. Earning or actively pursuing a CPA or CFA gives candidates a clear edge over applicants with similar experience levels.
Where can I find and apply to finance specialist jobs in Delaware?
You can find and apply to finance specialist jobs in Delaware on Migrate Mate, which lists current Delaware openings updated regularly. Search for roles that match your experience and specialty, then apply directly to the ones that fit your background and target industry.
