Finance Specialist Jobs in Michigan: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a finance specialist in Michigan?
Most Michigan employers require a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or business administration as the baseline qualification. There is no state-issued license specifically for finance specialists in Michigan, but professionals in corporate or banking roles often pursue CPA licensure through the Michigan Board of Accountancy or the CFA designation to strengthen their candidacy. Entry-level candidates typically start in financial analyst or accounts payable roles and advance with demonstrated technical and reporting experience.
How much do finance specialists make in Michigan?
Finance specialists in Michigan earn a median of about $75,040 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $45,980 for the lowest 10% to over $139,480 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire finance specialists in Michigan?
Employers hiring finance specialists in Michigan right now include VOICE, Rolls-Royce, and City of Ann Arbor, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Michigan's large automotive headquarters, regional banks, and major health systems are consistently among the most active sources of finance specialist openings in the state.
Which Michigan cities have the most finance specialist jobs?
Novi, Michigan, and Detroit have the most finance specialist openings in Michigan. Detroit and its suburbs lead because of the concentrated presence of automotive headquarters, financial institutions, and insurance carriers, while Grand Rapids draws demand from its growing healthcare and manufacturing sectors and Ann Arbor from its mix of technology firms and the University of Michigan's large administrative and research finance operations.
Are there remote finance specialist jobs in Michigan?
Yes, and they're more common than in many fields, since finance specialist work is largely desk-based and analytical. About 67% of finance specialist openings tied to Michigan are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting broader flexibility across corporate finance functions. Financial reporting, budgeting, and FP&A roles tend to be the most frequently offered on a remote or hybrid basis.
How can I get hired as a finance specialist in Michigan with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying to finance analyst or financial operations associate roles at Michigan's large corporate employers, where rotational or new-graduate programs are common. Ford Motor Company, Consumers Energy, and major Michigan health systems such as Henry Ford Health run structured finance development programs designed for candidates with a relevant degree but limited professional experience. Completing Excel certification, pursuing CPA exam eligibility through a Michigan university, or gaining experience in accounts payable or payroll gives candidates a measurable edge when applying to these programs.
Where can I find and apply to finance specialist jobs in Michigan?
You can find and apply to finance specialist jobs in Michigan on Migrate Mate, which lists current Michigan openings across industries and experience levels. Search the listings, find the roles that fit your background and target location, and apply directly through each posting.
