Financial Analyst Jobs in San Francisco: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a financial analyst job in San Francisco?
Focus your search on the Financial District, SoMa, and Mission Bay, where fintech companies, venture capital firms, asset managers, and large banks hire the most analysts. Candidates who can speak to financial modeling, variance analysis, or FP&A in a high-growth or technology-adjacent context stand out. Networking within San Francisco's dense finance and tech communities also opens doors that applications alone rarely do.
Which companies hire financial analysts in San Francisco?
Companies currently hiring financial analysts in San Francisco include University of California - San Francisco, Jordan Park, and UG2, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. San Francisco's mix of global banks, fintech startups, and venture-backed technology firms means openings exist at companies ranging from large financial institutions to growth-stage businesses scaling their finance teams.
Are there remote financial analyst jobs in San Francisco?
Yes, though it varies by employer type. Financial analyst roles focused on modeling, reporting, and planning tend to be more remote-friendly than positions requiring close collaboration with trading desks or on-site teams. How can I get a financial analyst job in San Francisco with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is targeting junior FP&A or associate analyst roles at San Francisco's mid-size fintech and technology companies, which hire more entry-level analysts than the city's large investment banks. Internships at firms headquartered in the Financial District or SoMa convert at a high rate. Strong Excel and data skills, plus exposure to tools like Tableau or SQL, give entry-level candidates a concrete edge in this market.
