Our Mission
Reflection’s mission is to build open superintelligence and make it accessible to all. We’re developing open weight models for individuals, agents, enterprises, and even nation states. Our team of AI researchers and company builders come from DeepMind, OpenAI, Google Brain, Meta, Character.AI, Anthropic and beyond.
Role Overview
As a Strategic Finance Manager, you'll help build the core muscles of our capital allocation, forecasting, and planning processes. You'll work across the business — spanning GTM, compute, R&D, and corporate finance — building models and analyses that inform how we allocate resources, evaluate opportunities, and plan for growth. The work will vary depending on where you focus, but the common thread is connecting ground-level business activity to rigorous financial thinking.
- Build financial models across a range of contexts — deals and partnerships, product and channel economics, cost structures, and investment decisions
- Support the corporate financial model with bottoms-up inputs, and maintain that connection as the underlying business evolves
- Partner cross-functionally — with sales, GTM, engineering, research, and finance leadership — to translate business activity into financial frameworks
- Develop cost and investment models (compute, infrastructure, headcount, R&D) to inform resource planning and tradeoff decisions
- Identify financial risks and opportunities early, and help structure decisions that balance growth with returns
- Improve the templates, assumptions libraries, and processes used across the team
What We're Looking For
- Strong financial modeling skills – build clean, auditable models from scratch
- Experience with deal economics, revenue modeling, or commercial finance at a technology company
- Comfort with cost-side modeling: you understand how compute, headcount, and infrastructure costs behave
- Ability to work cross-functionally with sales, legal, and product without losing rigor
- Detail-oriented and intellectually curious
- Effective communicator; ability to explain model assumptions to non-finance stakeholders
- Investment banking, consulting, or FP&A backgrounds
What We Offer
We believe that to build superintelligence that is truly open, you need to start at the foundation. Joining Reflection means building from the ground up as part of a small talent-dense team. You will help define our future as a company, and help define the frontier of open foundational models. We want you to do the most impactful work of your career with the confidence that you and the people you care about most are supported.
- Top-tier compensation: Salary and equity structured to recognize and retain the best talent globally.
- Health & wellness: Comprehensive medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance.
- Life & family: Fully paid parental leave for all new parents, including adoptive and surrogate journeys. Financial support for family planning.
- Benefits & balance: paid time off when you need it, relocation support, and more perks that optimize your time.
- Opportunities to connect with teammates: lunch and dinner are provided daily. We have regular off-sites and team celebrations.

Finance Jobs in California: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a finance in California?
The path depends on the specific finance role you are targeting. Most positions require at least a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or economics. Roles in securities, investment advising, or brokerage require FINRA licensing, such as the Series 7 or Series 65, coordinated through your employer. CPAs must register with the California Board of Accountancy. CFA designation is common for investment and portfolio roles and carries weight with California asset managers and banks.
How much do finances make in California?
Finances in California earn a median of about $180,770 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $101,820 for the lowest 10% to over $341,670 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire finances in California?
Employers hiring finances in California right now include KPMG, Bank of America, and JPMorganChase, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. California's mix of major bank regional headquarters, publicly traded tech companies, and large private equity and venture capital firms means consistent demand across commercial, corporate, and investment finance functions.
Which California cities have the most finance jobs?
San Francisco, Los Angeles, and San Diego have the most finance openings in California. San Francisco and San Jose are driven by fintech firms, venture capital, and the finance functions of large tech companies, while Los Angeles anchors entertainment finance, private equity, and wealth management, pulling consistent hiring across the broader Southern California region.
Are there remote finance jobs in California?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 22% of finance openings tied to California are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how much of the work centers on analysis, modeling, and reporting rather than on-site operations. Financial planning and analysis, financial reporting, and corporate treasury roles tend to offer the most remote flexibility, while roles in banking operations or client-facing wealth management are more commonly on-site.
How can I get hired as a finance in California with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a financial analyst associate or junior analyst role at a California bank, insurance company, or large corporate finance team. Wells Fargo, Pacific Life, and CalPERS all run structured new-grad and rotational finance programs. Completing an internship during school, earning your CFA Level I, or building a financial modeling portfolio gives a strong edge. Adjacent starting points include accounting coordinator and budget analyst roles, which routinely transition into core finance functions.
