Financial Project Manager Jobs in Delaware: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a financial project manager in Delaware?
Most financial project managers in Delaware enter the role by combining a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or business with several years of progressively responsible financial or project coordination experience. There is no state-issued Delaware license for this role, but earning a Project Management Professional certification through the Project Management Institute significantly strengthens candidacy at Wilmington's large financial institutions and corporate headquarters. Many candidates move up from financial analyst or business analyst roles within the same organization.
How much do financial project managers make in Delaware?
Financial project managers in Delaware earn a median of about $122,190 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $74,770 for the lowest 10% to over $166,660 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire financial project managers in Delaware?
Companies currently hiring financial project managers in Delaware include JPMorganChase, Solenis, and FujiFilm, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Delaware's concentration of financial services firms, credit card companies, and corporate headquarters in the Wilmington area makes it one of the more active mid-Atlantic markets for this role.
Which Delaware cities have the most financial project manager jobs?
Wilmington, Newark, and New Castle account for the largest share of financial project manager openings in Delaware. Wilmington drives the bulk of demand as the state's corporate and banking center, home to major financial institutions and holding companies, while Newark benefits from its proximity to the University of Delaware and a growing cluster of technology and operations offices, and Dover sees steadier but consistent openings tied to state government finance and regional business services.
Are there remote financial project manager jobs in Delaware?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 47% of financial project manager openings tied to Delaware are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the desk-based and analytical nature of the work. The parts of the role most suited to remote work include financial reporting, budget modeling, stakeholder updates, and project documentation, while on-site presence is more often required during project launches or cross-departmental workshops.
How can I get hired as a financial project manager in Delaware with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into the role from a financial analyst, business analyst, or project coordinator position, all of which Delaware's large Wilmington-area banks and corporate offices hire at the junior level. Candidates without direct project management experience can build credibility by completing a Certified Associate in Project Management credential and volunteering to lead internal process improvement initiatives. Firms such as JPMorgan Chase and Bank of America routinely run rotational and associate programs in Delaware that expose early-career finance professionals to project management responsibilities before they hold the title formally.
Where can I find and apply to financial project manager jobs in Delaware?
You can find and apply to financial project manager jobs in Delaware on Migrate Mate, which lists current Delaware openings updated regularly. Search the available roles, identify the ones that match your experience and preferred location, and apply directly to each position through the listing.
