Financial Project Manager Jobs in Vermont: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a financial project manager in Vermont?
The most direct path is earning a bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or business administration, then gaining experience in financial analysis or project coordination before moving into management. Vermont does not require a state-issued license for this role, but employers across Burlington's financial services sector and institutions like the University of Vermont Medical Center consistently prefer or require the Project Management Professional credential issued by the Project Management Institute. Pursuing a CPA or CFA designation alongside PMP strengthens candidacy considerably.
How much do financial project managers make in Vermont?
Financial project managers in Vermont earn a median of about $80,800 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $61,950 for the lowest 10% to over $128,110 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire financial project managers in Vermont?
Vermont financial project manager roles are posted by State of Vermont, Mountain Views Supervisory Union, and CVS Health and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Vermont's concentrated mix of regional banks, healthcare systems, and insurance carriers means openings tend to cluster around a small number of anchor employers rather than spreading across many smaller firms.
Which Vermont cities have the most financial project manager jobs?
Burlington, Woodstock, and Colchester hold the largest share of financial project manager openings in Vermont. Burlington dominates because it is home to the state's largest hospital system, regional bank headquarters, and a growing professional services corridor, while Montpelier draws postings tied to state government finance offices and insurance organizations headquartered in the capital region.
Are there remote financial project manager jobs in Vermont?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 33% of financial project manager openings tied to Vermont are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how much of the work centers on financial modeling, reporting, and stakeholder coordination that translates well to distributed teams. The portions most often done on-site involve executive presentations, vendor negotiations, and system implementation kickoffs at Vermont office locations.
How can I get hired as a financial project manager in Vermont with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a financial analyst or project coordinator role at a Vermont employer, then a lateral move once you have direct budget or timeline ownership. University of Vermont Medical Center and TD Bank's Burlington operations both hire financial analysts and project support associates who transition into manager tracks internally. Earning the CAPM certification before your first application signals project management intent to Vermont hiring managers and separates entry-level candidates from the pool.
Where can I find and apply to financial project manager jobs in Vermont?
You can find and apply to financial project manager jobs in Vermont on Migrate Mate, which lists current Vermont openings updated in real time. Find roles that fit your experience and specialty, then apply directly to the employers posting them.
