Accounting Analyst Jobs in Vermont: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a accounting analyst in Vermont?
Most Vermont accounting analyst roles require a bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, and many employers prefer candidates working toward or holding a CPA license issued through the Vermont Board of Public Accountancy. The Board administers the Uniform CPA Exam and sets Vermont's education and experience requirements. Candidates without a CPA can still secure analyst roles by pairing their degree with strong ERP experience and demonstrated reconciliation or budgeting skills from internships or adjacent finance positions.
How much do accounting analysts make in Vermont?
Accounting analysts in Vermont earn a median of about $93,430 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $68,580 for the lowest 10% to over $105,310 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire accounting analysts in Vermont?
Vermont accounting analyst roles are posted by National Life, Aon, and Clara Martin Center and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Vermont's mix of large healthcare systems, public utilities, state agencies, and mission-driven nonprofits means steady accounting analyst demand across multiple sectors year-round.
Which Vermont cities have the most accounting analyst jobs?
Burlington, Randolph, and Shelburne account for the largest share of accounting analyst openings in Vermont. Burlington leads because it is home to the state's largest healthcare network, financial services firms, and corporate headquarters, while Montpelier drives demand through state government agencies and regulatory bodies, and secondary markets like Rutland reflect regional hospital systems and municipal employers that maintain their own accounting functions.
Are there remote accounting analyst jobs in Vermont?
Yes, and more than most fields. Accounting analyst work is largely desk-based and data-driven, making it well suited to remote and hybrid arrangements. About 30% of accounting analyst openings tied to Vermont are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting broader trends in financial analysis work. Roles focused on financial reporting, budget modeling, and variance analysis tend to be the most flexible, while positions tied to physical inventory or on-site audit support are more likely to require in-office presence.
How can I get hired as a accounting analyst in Vermont with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is an accounting or finance degree combined with an internship at a Vermont employer, which frequently leads to a full-time offer. The State of Vermont posts entry-level financial analyst and accounting technician roles that serve as a common stepping stone, and the University of Vermont Medical Center runs structured new-grad hiring for junior finance analysts. Adjacent roles like accounts payable specialist or staff accountant at Vermont community banks or credit unions are practical lateral moves, and sitting for the CPA exam or earning a QuickBooks or Excel certification gives early-career candidates a concrete edge in a competitive applicant pool.
Where can I find and apply to accounting analyst jobs in Vermont?
You can find and apply to accounting analyst jobs in Vermont on Migrate Mate, which lists current Vermont openings in one place.
