Entry Level Flight Test Engineer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level flight test engineer job?
Focus on hands-on experience from academic projects, internships, or co-ops involving instrumentation, data acquisition, or aircraft systems. Employers at this level look for familiarity with flight test methodologies, technical report writing, and tools like MATLAB or LabVIEW. A strong capstone project or any documented test experience gives you a clear edge over candidates who rely on coursework alone.
Which companies hire entry level flight test engineers?
Companies hiring entry level flight test engineers right now include Peraton, Garmin, and Anduril, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Both major defense contractors and smaller aerospace firms actively recruit at this level, so it is worth searching across employer types rather than targeting only the largest names.
Are there remote entry level flight test engineer jobs?
Yes, though most roles in this field require on-site or flight-line presence. About 0% of entry level flight test engineer openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those positions typically involve data analysis, reporting, or simulation work rather than direct aircraft testing.
Are these new grad flight test engineer jobs?
Yes, these listings include new grad, recent graduate, and junior flight test engineer roles. A posting is new-grad friendly when it welcomes zero to two years of experience, accepts internship or co-op work as qualifying experience, or explicitly values a strong academic project in place of a long employment history. Searching for new grad or junior listings is a practical way to narrow to roles designed for candidates at the start of their careers.
Which industries hire the most entry level flight test engineers?
Entry Level flight test engineer roles concentrate in Manufacturing, Aerospace & Defense, and Technology & Software, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Those sectors drive the most entry level hiring because they operate active flight test programs that require engineers at every stage of a project, creating consistent demand for candidates coming directly out of degree programs.
