Graphic Designer Jobs in Arizona: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a graphic designer in Arizona?
Graphic design in Arizona has no state-issued license or registration requirement, so the path centers on education and portfolio. Most Arizona employers expect a bachelor's degree in graphic design or visual communication from a program at a school like Arizona State University or the University of Arizona, or an associate degree paired with a strong portfolio. Completing internships at Phoenix-area agencies and building work across digital, print, and brand identity disciplines makes candidates competitive for entry roles.
How much do graphic designers make in Arizona?
Graphic designers in Arizona earn a median of about $58,510 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $43,780 for the lowest 10% to over $88,590 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire graphic designers in Arizona?
Employers hiring graphic designers in Arizona right now include JLL, Aramark, and BASIS.ed, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Arizona's concentration of tech companies, healthcare systems, and consumer brands in the Phoenix metro means in-house creative roles are as common as agency positions.
Which Arizona cities have the most graphic designer jobs?
Phoenix, Tempe, and Scottsdale hold the most graphic designer openings in Arizona. Phoenix dominates because it is home to the state's largest concentration of corporate headquarters, advertising agencies, and media companies, while Scottsdale's density of marketing firms and luxury brand studios and Tempe's proximity to Arizona State University and its surrounding tech corridor generate steady creative hiring as well.
Are there remote graphic designer jobs in Arizona?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 25% of graphic designer openings tied to Arizona are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how well the work translates to distributed teams when deliverables are digital. Brand identity, digital marketing, and UX design roles are the most consistently remote, while production-heavy positions requiring print press checks or on-site collaboration with creative directors tend to remain in-office.
How can I get hired as a graphic designer in Arizona with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is building a focused portfolio and targeting junior or assistant designer roles at Phoenix-area marketing agencies, in-house creative departments at Arizona-based retailers, or the design teams attached to large hospital systems like Banner Health or Dignity Health. Many Arizona employers hire recent graduates from ASU's Herberger Institute or community college design programs directly into coordinator or production artist roles. Completing freelance projects for local nonprofits or small businesses and earning an Adobe Certified Professional credential adds a measurable edge when your paid experience is limited.
Where can I find and apply to graphic designer jobs in Arizona?
You can find and apply to graphic designer jobs in Arizona on Migrate Mate, which lists current Arizona openings updated in real time. Search the listings, find roles that fit your skills and location, and apply directly without creating a profile or signing up.
