Graphic Designer Jobs in Florida: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a graphic designer in Florida?
Florida does not require a state-issued license to work as a graphic designer, so entry into the field is credential-driven rather than exam-based. Most Florida employers expect a bachelor's degree in graphic design or visual communications from an accredited program, such as those offered at the University of Florida, Ringling College of Art and Design, or Miami International University of Art and Design. A strong portfolio of completed projects carries more weight in the hiring process than any single certification.
How much do graphic designers make in Florida?
Graphic designers in Florida earn a median of about $61,660 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $39,810 for the lowest 10% to over $101,860 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire graphic designers in Florida?
Employers hiring graphic designers in Florida right now include Kimley-Horn, Frida, and Fanatics, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Florida's concentration of hospitality, cruise, and entertainment companies means in-house creative teams are common, alongside regional marketing agencies and retail brands headquartered in South Florida.
Which Florida cities have the most graphic designer jobs?
Miami, Tampa, and Orlando are the Florida cities with the most graphic designer openings. Miami leads because of its dense cluster of advertising agencies, fashion and retail brands, and international corporate headquarters, while Orlando's entertainment and hospitality industry anchors a large market, and Tampa's growing tech and financial services sector drives steady demand from in-house creative teams.
Are there remote graphic designer jobs in Florida?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 38% of graphic designer openings tied to Florida are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the nature of screen-based creative work that rarely requires a physical presence. Digital design, social media content, and brand identity work are the sub-areas most likely to be offered fully remote.
How can I get hired as a graphic designer in Florida with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is building a portfolio through freelance projects, student work, or volunteer design for Florida nonprofits and small businesses before applying for junior or assistant designer roles. Large Florida employers like Disney and regional marketing agencies frequently hire design coordinators or production artists as entry points. Completing a certificate program at a Florida community college, such as those at Valencia College or Miami Dade College, and showing proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite can give candidates a clear edge over applicants with no formal work history.
Where can I find and apply to graphic designer jobs in Florida?
You can find and apply to graphic designer jobs in Florida on Migrate Mate, which lists current Florida openings across industries and experience levels. Find roles that fit your background and apply directly through each listing without needing to sign up or create a profile first.
