Graphic Designer Jobs in Georgia: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a graphic designer in Georgia?
Graphic design has no state-issued license in Georgia, so the path centers on education and portfolio strength. Most Georgia employers expect a bachelor's degree in graphic design, visual communication, or a related creative field from a program like those at Savannah College of Art and Design, Georgia State University, or the University of Georgia. Building a focused portfolio of brand, digital, and print work is the practical credential that gets you hired.
How much do graphic designers make in Georgia?
Graphic designers in Georgia earn a median of about $60,250 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $34,860 for the lowest 10% to over $100,110 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire graphic designers in Georgia?
Employers hiring graphic designers in Georgia right now include Get Engaged Media, Mohawk Industries, and HII, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Georgia's concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters, major media companies, and a growing fintech sector means demand is spread across industries rather than limited to traditional agencies.
Which Georgia cities have the most graphic designer jobs?
Atlanta, Georgia, and White have the most graphic designer openings in Georgia. Atlanta drives the bulk of demand as the state's commercial and media hub, home to major brand headquarters, advertising agencies, and tech companies, while Savannah's strong arts and design school ecosystem and coastal tourism industry generate consistent creative hiring, and Athens benefits from its university community and growing local business base.
Are there remote graphic designer jobs in Georgia?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 27% of graphic designer openings tied to Georgia are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting the fundamentally screen-based and file-driven nature of the work. Digital design, brand identity, and social media roles tend to be the most remote-friendly, while print production and in-house agency roles more often require on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a graphic designer in Georgia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is building a portfolio through freelance work, student projects, or nonprofit clients before applying to junior or assistant designer roles at Georgia's many mid-size marketing agencies and in-house brand teams. Employers like Cox Media Group and retail brands headquartered in Atlanta regularly hire associate designers or design coordinators as entry points. A strong portfolio and proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite matter more to most Georgia hiring managers than years on a resume.
Where can I find and apply to graphic designer jobs in Georgia?
You can find and apply to graphic designer jobs in Georgia on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Find roles that fit your experience and specialization and apply directly to the ones that match.
