Green Card Administrative Assistant Jobs
Green card Administrative Assistant jobs offer international workers a path to permanent U.S. residency through employer sponsorship. Most roles qualify under the EB-3 green card category through the PERM labor certification process, with some senior or bilingual positions meeting EB-2 green card standards. The process takes longer than a standard work visa but ends with a green card rather than visa renewals.

The Administrative Assistant position supports Seattle Pacific University’s mission by contributing to a Christ-centered learning and working community committed to academic excellence, service, and engagement with the world. In this role, the employee brings their skills, gifts, and professional expertise to work that matters—serving students, colleagues, and the broader University community in ways that reflect SPU’s values and purpose. To that end, all University employees are required to be aligned with and supportive of SPU's Statement of Faith and its derivative policies and lifestyle expectations.
What will you do?
You’ll provide broad administrative support and coordination for the Dean’s office and division leads, including event preparation, scheduling, managing supplies and equipment, maintaining records, and serving as a liaison to other departments. You'll supervise student workers and provide key logistical support for academic operations.
Responsibilities include:
- Support the Dean’s Assistant and Division Leads with scheduling, correspondence, meetings, and filing.
- Serve as backup administrative support for the Dean when the Dean’s Assistant is unavailable.
- Coordinate scheduling of shared spaces and board rooms.
- Assist with preparation and logistics for meetings and events.
- Maintain syllabi archives and faculty files.
- Help coordinate directory updates, websites, and course catalogs.
- Support hiring coordination.
- Process financial documents and manage general office supply inventory.
- Serve as liaison to custodial and facilities staff for maintenance and housekeeping needs.
- Supervise student employees and delegate tasks effectively.
- Complete additional special projects as assigned.
College-Specific Duties (CHEA):
- Support the Division of Education with:
- Tracking internships and practicums.
- Provide administrative support to the Arts and Humanities Division Lead, and Education Division Lead as requested.
- Supports the copier printers and classrooms in Peterson Hall.
- Collecting and distributing mail.
What will you bring?
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general office technology.
- A proactive, service-oriented approach to administrative support.
- Experience working in a college or university setting is a plus.
- Supervisory experience (especially with student employees) is helpful.
- A personal commitment to Christian faith, enthusiasm about supporting SPU’s mission, alignment with the University’s Statement of Faith, and a willingness to accept the lifestyle standards of the Christian community.
Compensation and Benefits:
Rate per hour: $26.44
Benefits: This is a full-time, non-exempt staff position with excellent benefits. SPU pays the employee premium for medical, dental, and vision insurance. SPU makes generous contributions to an employee HSA account and a 7% contribution to a retirement account, for eligible employees, with immediate vesting in the plan. Tuition discount program (50% - 90%) available for the employee and qualified immediate family members.

Translate your credentials before applying
If your degree or professional certificates are from outside the U.S., get them evaluated by a NACES-approved credential evaluator before employers begin PERM. Unevaluated foreign credentials can stall the labor certification filing and delay your entire green card timeline.
Target larger employers with established sponsorship programs
Government agencies, healthcare systems, and large corporations are the most consistent green card sponsors for Administrative Assistant roles, since they have HR teams experienced with PERM filings and the documentation burden it requires.
Search sponsoring employers through Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Administrative Assistant openings by employers with active green card filing history. This cuts out roles where sponsorship is possible in theory but unlikely in practice, so you spend time on applications that can actually lead to PERM.
Verify the prevailing wage before your offer
Before accepting an offer, check the OFLC Wage Search to confirm the employer's offered wage meets the DOL prevailing wage for your metropolitan area and skill level. An offer below the prevailing wage will fail the PERM process, even if the employer is willing to sponsor.
Understand the PERM recruitment documentation requirement
PERM requires your employer to run a formal recruitment process showing no qualified U.S. worker is available. Ask your prospective employer early whether their HR team has completed PERM filings before, since inexperienced employers often underestimate the documentation burden.
Distinguish EB-3 from EB-2 for your application
Most Administrative Assistant roles are classified under EB-3 as skilled workers, which suits candidates with a two-year degree or equivalent experience. EB-2 applies if the position genuinely requires an advanced degree, which is rare for this title and must be documented in the PERM job description.
Green Card Administrative Assistant: Frequently Asked Questions
Can an Administrative Assistant role qualify for green card sponsorship?
Yes. Administrative Assistant positions regularly qualify under the EB-3 skilled worker or professional category through the PERM labor certification process. The employer must demonstrate that no qualified U.S. worker is available for the role and that the offered wage meets DOL prevailing wage standards for your location and experience level.
How does EB-3 green card sponsorship differ from H-1B for this role?
H-1B visa requires a specialty occupation and is subject to an annual lottery with an 85,000-slot cap, making it unavailable to many Administrative Assistant roles. EB-3 sponsorship has no annual cap at the petition level, leads to permanent residency rather than a temporary status, and does not require the role to meet a specialty occupation standard.
How long does the PERM and green card process typically take for Administrative Assistants?
The full process generally runs two to four years from PERM filing to a green card, depending on DOL processing times and your country of birth. PERM adjudication alone currently averages well over a year at the analyst review stage. Nationals of countries without significant backlog, such as Australia or the United Kingdom, often move faster than those from India or China.
Where can I find Administrative Assistant jobs that offer green card sponsorship?
Use Migrate Mate to search Administrative Assistant openings filtered by employers with documented green card filing history. This approach surfaces roles where sponsorship is a realistic part of the hiring conversation, not just an afterthought listed in a job description to attract candidates.
Does the Administrative Assistant job description affect my green card category?
Significantly. The exact duties and stated educational requirements in the PERM job order determine whether your role qualifies as EB-3 skilled worker, EB-3 professional, or potentially EB-2. If the description requires only a high school diploma plus experience, EB-3 skilled worker applies. A role requiring a bachelor's degree opens the EB-3 professional or EB-2 pathway depending on degree level.
