Document your sales credentials before applying
Pull together performance records, revenue targets you've met, and team leadership examples before approaching employers. PERM requires your employer to prove your qualifications match the role, so having documented evidence of specialized sales management experience speeds up that verification.
Target media and digital advertising employers specifically
Ad agencies, broadcast networks, and programmatic advertising platforms file PERM petitions for this role far more often than general sales employers do. Filtering your search to companies with active green card filing history puts you in front of sponsors who already understand the process.
Search green card sponsoring jobs on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate surfaces Advertising Sales Manager roles at employers with verified green card sponsorship history, so you're not guessing which companies will support PERM. Filter by EB-2 or EB-3 to match postings to your own credentials and degree level.
Verify your wage offer against OFLC prevailing wage data
DOL requires your employer to pay at least the prevailing wage for your location and job level before PERM certification. Use OFLC Wage Search to check the Level I through Level IV rates for advertising sales managers in your target metro before you negotiate your offer.
Clarify the EB-2 versus EB-3 track with your employer early
EB-2 requires a master's degree or a bachelor's degree plus five years of progressive experience in advertising sales. If your credentials sit at the EB-3 threshold instead, confirm that upfront so your employer's counsel structures the PERM job requirements to match your actual qualifications.
Understand how PERM recruitment timelines affect your start date
PERM requires your employer to run a formal recruitment process, typically lasting 30 to 60 days, before filing with DOL. Factor this into your timeline when you receive an offer, since the green card process can't start until recruitment documentation is complete and submitted.
Green Card Advertising Sales Manager: Frequently Asked Questions
Does an Advertising Sales Manager role qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship?
Advertising Sales Manager positions can qualify under both categories depending on your credentials. EB-2 applies if the role requires a master's degree or a bachelor's degree plus five years of progressive experience in advertising or media sales. EB-3 covers the same role when the employer structures requirements at the bachelor's degree level. Your employer's immigration counsel finalizes which category fits the specific job description and your background.
How is green card sponsorship different from H-1B sponsorship for this role?
The green card route through PERM leads to permanent residency rather than a temporary work status that requires renewal every few years. Unlike H-1B visa, EB-3 petitions are not subject to an annual lottery, and most countries outside India and China face no meaningful visa backlog at the EB-3 level. The trade-off is timeline: PERM plus I-140 plus adjustment of status typically runs 18 to 36 months, compared to a few months for an H-1B approval.
What does the PERM process actually require from my employer?
Your employer must conduct a formal, DOL-supervised recruitment process to demonstrate no qualified U.S. workers are available for the role. This includes posting the job through specific channels, documenting applicant rejections, and certifying the prevailing wage. Only after DOL certifies the PERM application can your employer file the I-140 immigrant petition on your behalf. The entire PERM phase typically takes six to twelve months.
How do I find Advertising Sales Manager jobs where the employer already sponsors green cards?
Migrate Mate lets you search specifically for Advertising Sales Manager roles at employers with a verified green card sponsorship history, so you're not cold-applying and hoping the company will agree to sponsor. You can filter by EB-2 or EB-3 category to match openings to your own degree level and experience, which makes it easier to start the PERM conversation from a position of practical knowledge.
Can I change employers after my green card process has started?
Yes, under AC21 portability rules, you can change employers once your I-485 adjustment of status application has been pending for at least 180 days and the new role is in the same or a similar occupational classification. Advertising sales management roles in the same industry typically satisfy the same-or-similar standard. Your attorney should confirm portability eligibility before you accept a new offer during a pending I-485.
