CAD Designer Green Card Jobs
CAD Designer roles in manufacturing, architecture, and engineering can qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship through the PERM labor certification process. Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Green Card Sponsorship as a CAD Designer
Align your portfolio with PERM job requirements
PERM requires employers to advertise the exact duties and credentials of your role. Build a portfolio that mirrors the specific CAD software, industry standards, and deliverables named in your job description so your qualifications are defensible if DOL audits the filing.
Target employers with active PERM filing history
Engineering firms, aerospace contractors, and manufacturing companies file PERM petitions regularly for CAD roles. Search the OFLC Wage Search for certified LCA filings by occupation and employer to identify who has sponsored similar positions before approaching them.
Verify your role clears the specialty occupation threshold
EB-2 requires a bachelor's degree in a directly related field as a standard requirement for the position. Review the O*NET profile for your specific CAD specialization, since drafting roles and engineering design roles carry different degree requirements that affect which EB category applies.
Use Migrate Mate to filter green card sponsoring employers
Searching broadly for CAD Designer openings wastes time on employers who won't sponsor. Migrate Mate filters job listings by employers with documented green card sponsorship history, so you focus applications on companies already familiar with the PERM and I-140 process.
Negotiate PERM filing into your offer before signing
Some employers sponsor reluctantly and delay indefinitely without a written commitment. Ask during the offer stage whether the company will include PERM sponsorship in your employment agreement and confirm the expected timeline from hire date to petition filing.
Understand priority dates before your EB-3 petition is filed
Priority date is set when USCIS receives your I-140, not when PERM is certified. For most countries outside China and India, EB-3 dates are current or close to current, meaning adjustment of status can begin quickly after I-140 approval rather than after years of waiting.

Find CAD Designer JobsCAD Designer Green Card Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Do CAD Designer roles qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship?
Most CAD Designer positions qualify under EB-3 as skilled workers requiring at least a two-year degree or equivalent training. Roles that mandate a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, architecture, or a related field as a standard job requirement can qualify under EB-2. The classification depends on what the employer genuinely requires for the position, not the highest credential you hold.
How does PERM green card sponsorship differ from H-1B for a CAD Designer?
H-1B is a temporary status capped at 65,000 registrations annually, subject to a lottery, and tied to employer renewals every three years. PERM-based green card sponsorship has no annual cap at the petition level and leads to permanent residency. The process takes longer overall, typically two to four years for most nationalities at the EB-3 level, but it removes the lottery risk entirely and ends in a permanent status that isn't tied to a single employer after the I-485 is filed.
What does the PERM labor certification process involve for a CAD Designer employer?
The employer must conduct a DOL-supervised recruitment campaign showing no minimally qualified U.S. workers applied for the role. This includes newspaper ads, postings on the company website, and other recruitment steps over a 30-day window. DOL reviews the results before certifying the application. Only after PERM certification can the employer file your I-140 petition with USCIS to formally sponsor your green card.
How can I find CAD Designer jobs where the employer is willing to sponsor a green card?
Most job postings don't advertise green card sponsorship directly, so searching without the right filter wastes time. Migrate Mate indexes employers with verified PERM and green card filing history, letting you identify CAD Designer openings at companies that have already navigated the sponsorship process rather than cold-pitching employers who may decline when you raise the topic.
Can I switch employers after my PERM is certified but before my green card is approved?
You can change employers after your I-140 has been approved and your I-485 has been pending for at least 180 days, as long as the new job is in the same or a similar occupational classification. A CAD Designer role moving to a related engineering design position would generally qualify. Changing employers before those conditions are met restarts the sponsorship process from PERM certification.
