Cardiologist Green Card Jobs
Cardiologist roles qualify for EB-2 and EB-3 green card sponsorship through the PERM labor certification process, which requires employers to document recruitment efforts before filing an I-140 immigrant petition. Most hospital systems and academic medical centers actively sponsor foreign-trained cardiologists, making this one of the more accessible physician pathways to U.S. permanent residency.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Green Card Sponsorship in Cardiologist
Verify your credentials meet PERM documentation requirements
PERM requires your medical degree, residency completion, and cardiology fellowship to be documented precisely as listed in the job description. Gaps between your foreign credentials and the employer's stated minimum requirements can trigger a DOL audit before your I-140 even reaches USCIS.
Target employers with J-1 waiver sponsorship history
Hospital systems and federally qualified health centers that have sponsored J-1 Conrad 30 waivers for physicians are already familiar with immigration filings and typically have legal infrastructure in place to support EB-2 and EB-3 PERM sponsorship for cardiologists.
Search green card sponsoring employers on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter cardiologist roles by employers with active employment-based green card sponsorship history. This lets you identify hospital networks and cardiology practices already running PERM filings rather than cold-pitching immigration sponsorship to unprepared hiring teams.
Confirm the offered wage meets OFLC prevailing wage levels
Before signing an employment contract, cross-check your offered salary against the OFLC Wage Search for your specific cardiology SOC code and work location. Your employer's PERM application must certify the offered wage meets or exceeds the DOL prevailing wage, or the application will fail.
Negotiate PERM filing timelines into your offer letter
Academic and private cardiology employers sometimes delay initiating PERM even after hire. Get a written commitment on when your employer will start the process, since PERM can take six to twelve months at DOL before USCIS ever receives your I-140 petition.
Understand EB-2 versus EB-3 classification for your fellowship credentials
A completed cardiology fellowship typically supports EB-2 classification as an advanced-degree professional, while EB-3 covers the underlying physician role. Your employer and their immigration counsel will determine classification based on the actual job requirements listed in the PERM application, not your personal qualifications alone.

Find Cardiologist JobsCardiologist Green Card Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Do cardiologists qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship?
Most cardiologists qualify for EB-2 sponsorship because the role requires a medical degree plus a three-year fellowship, meeting the advanced-degree threshold. EB-3 applies if the employer structures the position at the skilled-worker level. Your employer's immigration attorney determines the classification based on the minimum degree requirement stated in the PERM job description, not your personal credentials.
How does green card sponsorship differ from H-1B sponsorship for cardiologists?
H-1B is a temporary work visa, capped annually at 85,000 with a lottery for most applicants. Green card sponsorship through PERM and I-140 is a permanent residency pathway with no annual lottery. EB-3 has no per-country numerical cap concerns for many nationalities, and once your I-140 is approved, your status isn't tied to a single employer in the same way an H-1B is.
How long does the PERM green card process take for a cardiologist role?
The full process typically runs two to four years from PERM filing to receiving a green card, assuming no audits or requests for evidence. DOL takes six to twelve months to certify the PERM application, USCIS processes the I-140 petition after that, and then you either file for adjustment of status domestically or go through consular processing abroad.
Where can I find cardiology employers that sponsor green cards?
Migrate Mate lets you search cardiologist job listings filtered by employers with verified employment-based green card sponsorship history. This removes the guesswork of identifying which hospital systems and cardiology groups are already running PERM filings, so you can focus your applications on employers prepared to sponsor permanent residency from day one.
Can a cardiologist self-petition for a green card without an employer?
Yes, through the EB-1A extraordinary ability category or the EB-2 National Interest Waiver, cardiologists with strong research output, publications, or work in underserved communities may qualify to self-petition without employer sponsorship or PERM labor certification. These categories require demonstrating that your work benefits the United States and that waiving the normal job offer requirement serves the national interest.
