Align your credentials to EB-2 requirements
A U.S. master's degree or a bachelor's plus five years of progressive cloud infrastructure experience positions you for EB-2. Document promotions, scope of responsibility, and platform certifications before approaching employers, so your file is clean at PERM filing.
Target employers with active PERM history
Cloud roles at mid-size managed service providers and enterprise SaaS companies generate consistent PERM filings. Filter job searches by employers whose DOL disclosure data shows approved labor certifications in cloud or software infrastructure categories, not just H-1B visa filings.
Verify the job description matches your O*NET profile
DOL reviewers cross-reference your offered role against O*NET occupation definitions. If your Cloud Solutions Engineer duties span multiple SOC codes, ask the employer to anchor the PERM description to the code that covers your primary function to avoid a supervised recruitment audit.
Confirm prevailing wage before accepting an offer
Run your offered location and SOC code through the OFLC Wage Search before signing. If the offer falls at Level I or II and your experience supports Level III, the employer's PERM filing is at higher audit risk, which adds months to your green card timeline.
Search green card roles through Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Cloud Solutions Engineer openings by employers actively sponsoring EB-2 and EB-3 petitions. The platform surfaces PERM-filing history by role and region, so you're not guessing which companies will start the process after you're hired.
Track your I-140 approval before switching employers
Once USCIS approves your I-140 petition, you can port that priority date to a new employer's green card case under AC21 portability if you've waited 180 days and the new role is in the same or similar occupation. Don't resign before that window closes.
Green Card Cloud Solutions Engineer: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Cloud Solutions Engineer role qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship?
Cloud Solutions Engineer positions typically qualify under both EB-2 and EB-3, depending on the degree and experience you bring. EB-2 applies when the role requires an advanced degree or you have a bachelor's plus five years of progressive cloud infrastructure experience. EB-3 covers roles requiring a bachelor's degree in a relevant field. Your employer's PERM labor certification defines which category applies.
How does PERM green card sponsorship differ from H-1B for this role?
H-1B is a temporary status, capped at 85,000 per year and subject to a lottery. PERM-based green card sponsorship has no annual cap at the EB-3 level for most countries outside India and China, and it leads to permanent residency rather than a renewable work authorization. The tradeoff is timeline: PERM and I-140 together typically take one to three years before you reach the adjustment of status stage.
What does the PERM labor certification process involve for cloud engineering roles?
Your employer files a PERM application with DOL to prove no qualified U.S. worker was available for the role at the prevailing wage. For Cloud Solutions Engineer positions, this includes a supervised recruitment period, a detailed job description tied to an SOC code, and a wage offer that meets or exceeds the OFLC Wage Search level for your location. DOL must certify the application before USCIS receives the I-140 petition.
How can I find Cloud Solutions Engineer jobs with green card sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lets you filter Cloud Solutions Engineer openings by employers with documented EB-2 and EB-3 PERM filing history. Because many companies sponsor green cards selectively by role and team, filtering by actual filing data is more reliable than asking recruiters during initial outreach, when sponsorship decisions often haven't been made at the hiring manager level.
Can I change employers after my I-140 is approved without losing my green card progress?
Yes, under AC21 portability rules, you can change to a same or similar occupation after your I-140 has been approved and your adjustment of status application has been pending for at least 180 days. For Cloud Solutions Engineer roles, a new position in cloud infrastructure, solutions architecture, or related systems work generally qualifies. USCIS evaluates the occupational similarity at the time of your green card interview or final adjudication.
