EMT Green Card Jobs
EMT roles can qualify for EB-3 skilled worker sponsorship through the PERM labor certification process, where your employer files with DOL to prove no qualified U.S. workers are available. Strong state licensure, NREMT certification, and documented field experience all strengthen your green card case.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Green Card Sponsorship in EMT
Get your NREMT credentials verified early
PERM requires your employer to document that you meet the minimum qualifications for the role. Having your NREMT certification, state EMT license, and any ACLS or PEMT credentials officially verified speeds up that documentation step.
Target hospital systems over private contractors
Large hospital networks and academic medical centers sponsor EB-3 green cards far more than private ambulance contractors. Focus your search on systems with in-house HR and established immigration programs rather than subcontracted EMS operators.
Confirm E-Verify enrollment before accepting an offer
Any employer sponsoring you for a green card must be authorized to employ you lawfully throughout the process. E-Verify enrollment is a strong signal that a hiring organization has the compliance infrastructure to support a PERM filing.
Search for EMT green card roles using Migrate Mate
Filter by EMT job titles and EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship to find employers with active PERM filing history. Migrate Mate surfaces roles where employers have already demonstrated a willingness to sponsor foreign workers for permanent residency.
Understand the prevailing wage before negotiating
DOL sets a prevailing wage for EMT roles by geographic area, and your employer must pay at or above it throughout the green card process. Use the OFLC Wage Search to look up the Level I through Level IV wage for your target city before any salary discussion.
Ask your employer about concurrent I-140 and I-485 filing
If a visa number is immediately available for your country under EB-3, you may be able to file your I-140 petition and I-485 adjustment of status simultaneously, cutting months off your wait. Confirm this with your employer's immigration counsel early in the offer stage.

Find EMT JobsEMT Green Card Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Can an EMT role qualify for an EB-3 green card?
Yes. EMT positions typically qualify under the EB-3 skilled worker category, which covers roles requiring at least two years of training or experience. Your employer files a PERM labor certification with DOL to demonstrate that no qualified U.S. workers were available, then submits an I-140 immigrant petition with USCIS on your behalf.
How does EB-3 green card sponsorship differ from H-1B for an EMT?
The H-1B requires your role to qualify as a specialty occupation, which most EMT positions do not meet since a bachelor's degree in a specific field is not typically required. EB-3 sponsorship has no annual lottery, leads directly to permanent residency rather than a temporary status, and is available to skilled workers regardless of degree level, making it the more practical path for most EMTs.
How long does the PERM and green card process take for an EMT?
The full process typically runs two to four years depending on your country of birth. PERM labor certification alone can take six to eighteen months at DOL, followed by USCIS adjudication of the I-140 petition. Nationals of countries without significant backlogs may proceed to adjustment of status within one to two years of PERM approval.
Where can I find EMT employers that sponsor green cards?
Migrate Mate lets you filter EMT job listings by EB-2 and EB-3 sponsorship status, showing roles from employers with documented PERM filing history. Hospital systems, municipal fire departments, and large integrated health networks are the most consistent sponsors for EMT green card cases compared to private ambulance services.
Does my EMT license need to transfer to the state where I'll be working?
Yes. Your PERM application is tied to a specific employer location, and DOL and USCIS will expect you to hold the licensure required to legally perform the job in that state. If you're licensed in one state and accepting an offer in another, initiate the reciprocity or endorsement process before PERM is filed so there's no gap in your minimum qualifications.
