Green Card Engineering Project Manager Jobs
Engineering Project Manager roles qualify for EB-2 and EB-3 green card sponsorship through the PERM labor certification process, which permanently ties your authorization to the employer rather than a temporary visa. Employers file a prevailing wage request with DOL before recruiting, making early sponsorship conversations essential for foreign professionals targeting this path.

- Coordinate internal network and server engineering resources to meet third-party integration deadlines and service-level requirements.
- Maintain a current inventory of third-party connectivity dependencies and proactively surface scheduling risks related to vendor timelines.
Stakeholder Management and Communication
- Prepare and deliver project status updates, milestone summaries, and escalation briefings for senior leadership, including the CTO and infrastructure management.
- Facilitate project meetings, working sessions, and go/no-go checkpoints with technical teams and business stakeholders.
- Identify, document, and actively manage project risks, issues, and dependencies across workstreams.
- Translate technical scope and delivery status into clear, non-technical language for business stakeholders.
Process and Documentation
- Maintain comprehensive project documentation in Jira and Confluence, including project charters, decision logs, working agreements, RAID registers, and closure reports.
- Ensure infrastructure changes are coordinated through the ITIL change management process and align with ServiceNow workflows.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of project delivery practices within Infrastructure Engineering.
- Support retrospectives and lessons-learned sessions to build institutional knowledge.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 5 years of project management experience in technology environments, with a focus on network or server/compute infrastructure.
- 5 years of experience managing Cisco network infrastructure projects (routing, switching, firewall, SD-WAN).
- 3 years of experience with Windows Server, VMware vSphere/vSAN, and Dell compute platforms sufficient to translate technical scope into project deliverables.
- 3 years of experience managing cloud migration or hybrid infrastructure projects; Azure familiarity strongly preferred.
- 3 years of experience coordinating infrastructure integrations with third-party service providers, ideally in financial services environments.
- 3 years of experience with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence) for work management and documentation.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong analytical, organizational, and written communication skills.
- Relevant certifications: PMP, CSM (Certified Scrum Master), PMI-ACP, SAFe, or equivalent.
- Familiarity with Azure Local (Azure Stack HCI) and hybrid cloud architecture.
- Experience with ITIL frameworks and ServiceNow-based change and incident management processes.
- Background in financial services technology environments, including exposure to Bloomberg, CRD, Eagle, or similar platforms.
- Experience with network capacity planning, circuit procurement, or colocation/data center operations projects.
- Experience coordinating technology infrastructure work within active office construction or facilities relocation projects.
- Exposure to infrastructure automation tooling (Terraform, Ansible, or comparable IaC frameworks) sufficient to coordinate engineering deliverables.

Document your degree field precisely
PERM certification for Engineering Project Manager roles requires your degree to align with the job's specialty occupation classification. A general management degree may not satisfy the requirement; degrees in civil, mechanical, or industrial engineering carry stronger alignment with DOL's occupational criteria.
Target employers with active PERM history
Large engineering firms and EPC contractors file PERM applications regularly for project management roles. Prioritize companies with federal contracts or infrastructure projects, where workforce planning timelines make multi-year sponsorship commitments more common and institutionally supported.
Search green card sponsoring jobs on Migrate Mate
Filter Engineering Project Manager roles by green card sponsorship eligibility on Migrate Mate to skip employers who won't file PERM. The platform surfaces companies with active employment-based sponsorship history, saving you from offers that stall at the immigration conversation.
Clarify EB-2 versus EB-3 eligibility before accepting an offer
Your employer's attorney will determine which category fits your credentials. If you hold a bachelor's degree plus five years of progressive experience, EB-3 is typical; a master's in engineering or project management positions you for EB-2, which carries shorter priority date wait times for many nationalities.
Negotiate sponsorship commitment before your start date
Ask employers to include PERM sponsorship terms in your offer letter before signing. The DOL prevailing wage determination alone can take several months, and starting that process early in your employment rather than after a probationary period significantly reduces your overall green card timeline.
Verify the job description matches OFLC Wage Search classifications
PERM applications are rejected when the posted job duties don't align with the Standard Occupational Classification used in the prevailing wage request. Cross-reference the role against the O*NET occupation profile for Engineering Managers to confirm your employer's job description won't trigger a DOL audit.
Green Card Engineering Project Manager: Frequently Asked Questions
Does an Engineering Project Manager role qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship?
Engineering Project Manager positions typically qualify under EB-3 for candidates with a bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline, and under EB-2 for those holding a master's degree or a bachelor's plus substantial progressive experience in a specialized field. USCIS evaluates whether the role requires a specific degree, not just any bachelor's degree, so the job description your employer files matters significantly.
How does PERM green card sponsorship differ from H-1B sponsorship for this role?
H-1B visa sponsorship is temporary, capped at 85,000 registrations annually, and subject to a lottery. PERM-based green card sponsorship has no annual application cap at the EB-3 category level for many nationalities and results in permanent residency rather than a renewable work visa. The tradeoff is timeline: PERM labor certification, followed by I-140 and adjustment of status, typically takes two to four years before you receive your green card.
What credentials strengthen a green card application for an Engineering Project Manager?
A degree in mechanical, civil, electrical, or industrial engineering paired with a PMP certification reinforces the specialty occupation argument in PERM filings. Progressive experience managing engineering budgets, subcontractors, or federal contracts also supports EB-2 eligibility by demonstrating advanced expertise beyond a generalist management background.
How do I find Engineering Project Manager jobs where employers will sponsor a green card?
Search for Engineering Project Manager roles filtered by green card sponsorship eligibility on Migrate Mate, which surfaces employers with documented PERM filing history. Targeting EPC firms, infrastructure contractors, and defense engineering companies increases your odds, as these employers regularly sponsor foreign workers in project management roles due to sustained workforce demand.
Can I change employers after my PERM is filed without losing my green card progress?
You can port your priority date to a new employer once your I-140 has been approved and your adjustment of status application has been pending for at least 180 days, under AC21 portability rules. The new role must be in the same or a similar occupational classification, which Engineering Project Manager positions generally satisfy when moving between engineering employers.
