INTRODUCTION
Join BU’s AV/IT services & support group, Learning & Event Technology Services (LETS), and work with us on a vibrant, dynamic campus that is shaping the future of education! We are looking for a Learning & Event Technology Specialist with a focus on AV repair and maintenance to join our energetic & diverse team.
LETS supports all AV/IT related services across the Charles River campus including AV installation, repair and maintenance and design of new systems. Other staff in the group also support meetings, events and the teaching and learning mission of BU by providing best-in-class support to BU’s faculty and students in their use of classroom technology.

Many of our projects are coordinated with external AV integration partners except for digital signage and flat panel installations, which are often handled in-house. Experience in commissioning systems and working alongside integrators, facilities staff and trades would be helpful.
This onsite position entails working evening as needed for uninterrupted access to classrooms and other spaces for diagnostics and repairs. All LETS positions may also entail limited weekend/holiday work. In return, we provide an environment that encourages creativity, collaboration, professional and personal growth, career development, open doors, life-long friendships, and a sense of purpose topped off with a touch of humor and frequent laughter (& BBQs!)

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Green Card Sponsorship as an Event Marketing Manager
Document your degree's field alignment
PERM requires your degree to match the job's field of study requirement. A marketing or communications degree supports Event Marketing Manager sponsorship directly; a general business degree may need supplemental evidence tying your coursework to the role.
Target employers with PERM filing history
Search DOL's OFLC disclosure data for companies that have filed PERM applications under event marketing or marketing manager job titles. Employers with prior PERM experience move faster and face fewer internal approval hurdles than first-time sponsors.
Verify the role's specialty occupation standing
EB-2 eligibility depends on the position requiring an advanced degree or equivalent. Event marketing roles at agencies or enterprise brands managing large-scale campaigns often qualify; coordinator-level titles at smaller firms sometimes do not. Clarify the degree requirement before accepting an offer.
Search green card sponsoring employers on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Event Marketing Manager openings by employers with active green card sponsorship history. This surfaces companies already familiar with PERM timelines so you're not educating an HR team from scratch.
Negotiate PERM initiation timing in your offer
PERM labor certification can take one to two years before the I-140 petition even begins. Ask during the offer stage when the employer intends to start the process, and confirm they'll file before any H-1B visa status expiration creates a gap.
Understand EB-3 backlogs by your country of birth
EB-3 has no annual cap concerns for most nationals, but applicants born in India or China face significant priority date backlogs. Check the USCIS Visa Bulletin before committing to an EB-3 pathway so the wait aligns with your residency timeline.
Green Card Event Marketing Manager: Frequently Asked Questions
Does an Event Marketing Manager role qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship?
Most Event Marketing Manager positions qualify for EB-3 as a professional role requiring at least a bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or a related field. EB-2 sponsorship applies when the position requires an advanced degree or the employer can demonstrate the role warrants candidates with strong credentials beyond a standard four-year degree. The job description's stated degree requirement drives which category fits.
How does green card sponsorship differ from H-1B sponsorship for this role?
H-1B is a temporary status requiring renewal every three years with no guarantee of permanence. Green card sponsorship through PERM and I-140 leads to lawful permanent residency, with no annual cap at the EB-3 level for most nationalities. The tradeoff is timeline: PERM labor certification alone typically takes one to two years before the I-140 stage begins, making early employer conversations critical.
What does the PERM labor certification process involve for an Event Marketing Manager?
Your employer files a PERM application with DOL certifying that no qualified U.S. worker is available for the role at the prevailing wage. This requires a recruitment campaign, documented results, and a wage offer meeting or exceeding the OFLC Wage Search rate for the job's location and experience level. Once DOL certifies the application, the employer files an I-140 petition with USCIS to establish your immigrant visa priority date.
How do I find Event Marketing Manager jobs where the employer already sponsors green cards?
Use Migrate Mate to search specifically for Event Marketing Manager openings at employers with documented green card sponsorship history. This filters out companies that will decline to sponsor after you've already invested time in the interview process, and surfaces employers whose HR and legal teams already understand PERM timelines and requirements.
Can I switch employers after my PERM application is filed?
Changing employers after PERM is filed but before the I-140 is approved generally restarts the process, since the certification is tied to the specific employer and job offer. Once an I-140 has been approved for more than 180 days, portability rules under AC21 may allow you to change to a similar role in the same or a related occupation without losing your priority date.
