Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Green Card Sponsorship in Head Of Communications
Document your credentials before applying
Gather official transcripts, degree certificates, and credential evaluations early. PERM requires your qualifications match the job description precisely, so a foreign degree evaluation confirming U.S. equivalency prevents delays during labor certification.
Target employers with PERM filing history
Search the OFLC Wage Search to find companies that have filed PERM applications for communications roles. Employers with existing PERM experience move faster and make fewer documentation errors during your sponsorship process.
Use Migrate Mate to find sponsoring employers
Search Head of Communications roles on Migrate Mate to surface employers actively sponsoring green cards. Filter by EB-2 or EB-3 category to focus your outreach on organizations that have already committed to the PERM pathway.
Align your job description to PERM requirements
Before accepting an offer, confirm the written job description specifies a degree requirement in communications or a closely related field. PERM applications are rejected when posted job duties are too broad or the degree requirement is listed as preferred rather than required.
Negotiate sponsorship timing into your offer
Ask whether the employer will initiate PERM within your first year. DOL requires a recruitment period before filing, and I-140 adjudication adds months beyond that, so starting the process early protects your permanent residency timeline.
Understand EB-2 versus EB-3 category eligibility
Head of Communications roles often qualify for EB-2 if the position genuinely requires a master's degree or equivalent. If your employer posts the role at bachelor's level, you'll file under EB-3, which affects your priority date and wait time depending on your country of birth.

Find Head Of Communications JobsHead Of Communications Green Card Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Head of Communications role qualify for an employment-based green card?
Yes. Head of Communications positions typically qualify under EB-2 or EB-3 because they require at least a bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, or a related field. Your employer files a PERM labor certification with DOL to document that no qualified U.S. worker was available, then submits an I-140 immigrant petition with USCIS to begin your green card process.
How does green card sponsorship differ from H-1B sponsorship for this role?
Green card sponsorship through PERM leads to permanent residency, not a temporary status requiring renewal. Unlike the H-1B, EB-3 petitions have no annual lottery, so your employer can file an I-140 at any time once PERM is certified. The trade-off is timeline: PERM plus I-140 adjudication typically takes one to two years before you even reach adjustment of status, compared to an H-1B approval in a few months.
What does the PERM process require from a Head of Communications candidate?
Your employer posts the job publicly for a set DOL recruitment period and documents that no qualified U.S. worker applied. You must meet every requirement listed in that job posting exactly. If your degree is from outside the U.S., a credential evaluation confirming equivalency to a U.S. bachelor's or master's degree is required before USCIS will approve the I-140 petition.
Where can I find Head of Communications jobs with green card sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lets you filter Head of Communications roles by employers that sponsor employment-based green cards, saving you the manual work of researching PERM filing history employer by employer. You can identify EB-2 and EB-3 positions directly, which focuses your applications on organizations already committed to the PERM process rather than those open to discussing it later.
Can I switch employers after my green card process has started?
Yes, under AC21 portability rules, you can change employers after your I-140 is approved and your I-485 adjustment of status application has been pending for at least 180 days, as long as the new role is in the same or a similar occupational classification. For a Head of Communications moving to a comparable senior communications leadership role, portability generally applies, but your new employer should confirm the position qualifies before you resign.
