Green Card Technical Solutions Engineer Jobs
Technical Solutions Engineer roles sit squarely in EB-2 and EB-3 territory: employers file PERM labor certification with DOL, then sponsor your I-140 immigrant petition for permanent residency. Finding a company with active green card sponsorship history is the first step toward securing that sponsorship.

Document your degree and field alignment
PERM requires your degree to match the job's stated educational requirements. A computer science, engineering, or information systems degree maps cleanly to Technical Solutions Engineer roles. If your degree title differs, gather transcripts showing relevant coursework before applications start.
Target companies with PERM filing history
Not every tech employer files PERM regularly. Search DOL's OFLC disclosure data for employers who have sponsored Technical Solutions Engineer or related titles previously. Companies already familiar with the process move faster and make fewer filing errors that delay your case.
Search green card sponsoring roles on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters Technical Solutions Engineer jobs specifically by green card sponsorship eligibility, saving you from applying to roles where sponsorship was never on the table. Start your search there before reaching out to any employer.
Clarify EB-2 versus EB-3 with your hiring manager
EB-2 applies if the role requires an advanced degree or you hold one and the employer agrees to that classification. EB-3 covers bachelor's-level professionals. The distinction affects your priority date queue, so confirm which category the employer intends to file under before accepting an offer.
Request the prevailing wage determination early
DOL sets the prevailing wage for your exact role, location, and skill level through PERM. Use the OFLC Wage Search to check what wage level your role falls under. If your offered salary is below the certified prevailing wage, USCIS can deny the I-140 petition outright.
Understand the recruitment process your employer must complete
Before filing PERM, employers must run a formal recruitment campaign and document that no qualified U.S. workers applied. Technical Solutions Engineer roles with specialized platform or integration requirements can make this step smoother, since the job duties themselves narrow the qualified applicant pool.
Green Card Technical Solutions Engineer: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Technical Solutions Engineer role typically qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship?
Most Technical Solutions Engineer positions qualify for EB-3 as skilled professional roles requiring a bachelor's degree. EB-2 applies when the employer defines the role as requiring an advanced degree, or when you hold a master's or higher and the employer agrees to that classification. The distinction matters because your priority date queue differs by category and by your birth country.
How does green card sponsorship differ from H-1B sponsorship for this role?
H-1B visa is a temporary nonimmigrant status capped at 85,000 new approvals per year, with a lottery for most applicants. Green card sponsorship through PERM, I-140, and adjustment of status leads to permanent residency with no annual cap at the EB-3 category level for most countries. The tradeoff is timeline: PERM alone can take six months to a year before the I-140 is even filed, but the result is permanent status rather than a renewable temporary visa.
What makes a Technical Solutions Engineer role strong for PERM approval?
Roles that specify platform-specific skills, integration experience, or proprietary technical knowledge help employers demonstrate that the position requires a specialized worker. Generic postings listing only broad software skills can attract more U.S. applicants during PERM recruitment, complicating the audit trail DOL requires. The more precisely the job description ties to your specific technical background, the cleaner the PERM record becomes.
How do I find Technical Solutions Engineer jobs where the employer is already willing to sponsor a green card?
Migrate Mate lets you filter Technical Solutions Engineer roles specifically by green card sponsorship eligibility, so you're only seeing positions where employers have indicated willingness to go through the PERM process. This avoids spending time on applications where sponsorship was never an option, and puts you in front of employers already familiar with the I-140 filing requirements.
Can I switch employers after my PERM is filed but before I get my green card?
Yes, but the rules depend on where you are in the process. If your I-140 has been approved for 180 days or more and your I-485 adjustment of status is pending, portability rules allow you to change to a same or similar occupational role without restarting the process. Technical Solutions Engineer roles generally map to similar SOC codes, which can support a portability argument, but your new employer must still be willing to continue sponsorship.
