Green Card Head Of Finance Jobs
Head of Finance roles qualify for EB-2 and EB-3 green card sponsorship when employers file PERM labor certification with the DOL, documenting that no qualified U.S. worker is available. Advanced-degree finance professionals and CPAs with specialized credentials are strong candidates. Sponsorship leads to permanent residency, not a temporary visa renewal cycle.

Controller / Head of Finance – Venture Capital
New York City | $180K–$200K Base + Bonus + Potential Carry
I’m partnering exclusively with the Founder of a rapidly growing venture capital firm focused on emerging technology and AI to hire a Controller / Head of Finance. The firm is entering its next stage of growth, with a new fund underway and significant plans to scale the platform over the coming years. This will be the senior finance hire within a lean organization, working directly with the Founder and taking ownership across fund finance, management company accounting, operations, and investor relations. This is an opportunity for someone who wants significantly more ownership than a traditional Controller role and is excited about helping build the infrastructure of a growing investment firm.
Responsibilities:
- Own accounting and finance across the management company and funds
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close and financial reporting
- Oversee fund accounting, capital calls, distributions, management fees, and carried interest reporting
- Build and improve accounting processes, controls, systems, and reporting infrastructure
- Manage budgeting, forecasting, cash flow planning, treasury, and financial analysis
- Coordinate with fund administrators, auditors, tax advisors, legal counsel, and other external partners
- Partner directly with the Founder on strategic and financial initiatives
- Own LP reporting and serve as a key financial point of contact for investors
- Support fundraising, investor due diligence, DDQs, data rooms, and new fund launches
- Develop reporting around AUM, fee revenue, expenses, profitability, fundraising, and fund performance
- Help build a scalable finance and operational function as the firm continues to grow
Ideal Background:
- 5–10 years of relevant accounting/finance experience
- Private equity, venture capital, or broader alternative investment experience strongly preferred
- Strong understanding of both fund accounting and management company accounting
- CPA preferred
- Experience working with LPs/investor reporting is highly desirable
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Hands-on mentality with the ability to operate in a lean, entrepreneurial environment
- Ambitious individual looking to grow into a broader finance leadership position as the firm scales
Why This Opportunity:
This is not a traditional back-office Controller position. You’ll work directly with the Founder, have visibility across virtually every aspect of the firm, interact regularly with LPs, and have the opportunity to build the finance function rather than inherit a highly siloed structure. The firm offers a $180K–$200K base salary plus bonus, with the potential for carry participation over time. Please reach out directly for confidential consideration.

Match your credentials to EB-2 requirements
EB-2 requires an advanced degree or its equivalent. A CPA designation plus a bachelor's in accounting or finance can satisfy this if your employer documents the advanced-degree requirement in the PERM job description. Gather official transcripts and credential evaluation letters before applying.
Target public companies with PERM filing history
Public companies and large private firms with dedicated HR and legal teams are far more likely to have an established PERM workflow for senior finance roles. Midsize companies may sponsor but often need more lead time to initiate the process.
Search green card sponsoring employers on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate surfaces Head of Finance roles at employers with active green card sponsorship history, so you're not cold-applying to companies that have never filed PERM. Filter by role and location to find positions where sponsorship is already part of the hiring process.
Clarify the EB classification during offer negotiations
Ask prospective employers whether the role is benchmarked at EB-2 or EB-3 before signing. EB-2 National Interest Waiver self-petition is also possible for senior finance professionals with strong credentials, allowing you to file without employer involvement.
Verify prevailing wage using the OFLC Wage Search
PERM requires your employer to pay at least the DOL prevailing wage for your role and location. Use the OFLC Wage Search to confirm your offered salary meets the Level III or IV threshold typical for Head of Finance positions before your employer files.
Check your O*NET occupation profile for specialty occupation fit
Head of Finance maps to financial management occupations in O*NET. Confirm the degree field your employer lists in the PERM job order matches your credential exactly, as mismatches between listed requirements and your actual degree can trigger a PERM audit.
Green Card Head Of Finance: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Head of Finance role qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship?
Head of Finance roles typically qualify for EB-2 when the employer requires a master's degree or a bachelor's plus substantial specialized experience. EB-3 applies when the minimum requirement is a bachelor's degree. Your employer documents the requirement in the PERM labor certification filed with the DOL, so the role's written job description determines which category applies.
How does PERM green card sponsorship differ from H-1B for this role?
H-1B visa is a temporary work visa with a three-year initial period, an annual lottery cap, and no direct path to permanency on its own. PERM-based green card sponsorship is the permanent residency process: your employer certifies to the DOL that no qualified U.S. worker is available, then files an I-140 immigrant petition with USCIS. There is no annual lottery for EB-2 or EB-3 categories, though priority date backlogs affect nationals from high-demand countries.
How long does the PERM process take for a Head of Finance position?
PERM labor certification currently averages well over a year for analyst review cases at the DOL, though supervised recruitment cases move faster. After PERM approval, your employer files the I-140 with USCIS, and you file for adjustment of status once a visa number is current. Total timeline from PERM filing to green card approval commonly runs two to four years for non-backlogged nationalities.
Where can I find Head of Finance jobs where the employer already sponsors green cards?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. It aggregates Head of Finance roles at employers with documented PERM filing history, so you can target companies that have already sponsored foreign workers in finance rather than discovering a sponsorship gap after an offer. Filtering by role type and location helps you focus on realistic opportunities.
Can I switch employers after my employer files PERM but before I have a green card?
You can switch employers, but the PERM certification is tied to the sponsoring company and the specific role. If you move before the I-140 is approved, the PERM must be restarted with the new employer. If your I-140 has been approved and your priority date has been pending for 180 days or more, portability rules under AC21 allow you to transfer that priority date to a new employer in a same or similar occupational category.
