Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Green Card Sponsorship in Head Of Social
Document your specialized social media expertise
Compile campaign performance data, platform-specific metrics, and team leadership records before applying. PERM requires your employer to justify hiring you over equally qualified U.S. workers, so concrete evidence of your specialized skill set strengthens the labor certification.
Target employers with dedicated legal sponsorship budgets
Large media groups, tech companies, and consumer brands with in-house immigration counsel are far more likely to absorb PERM attorney fees and multi-year sponsorship timelines than early-stage startups without established HR infrastructure.
Use Migrate Mate to find green card sponsoring employers
Search Head of Social roles filtered by employers with active green card sponsorship history using Migrate Mate. This cuts out the guesswork of cold-applying to companies that have never filed employment-based petitions before.
Clarify the EB-2 versus EB-3 classification upfront
If your role requires a master's degree or equivalent advanced credentials, push for EB-2 classification during offer negotiations. EB-2 can mean faster priority dates depending on your country of birth, which directly affects how long you wait for a visa number.
Negotiate who covers PERM and I-140 filing costs
DOL prohibits employers from passing PERM labor certification costs to workers, but I-140 petition fees are negotiable. Getting written confirmation that your employer covers both before signing an offer avoids disputes once the filing process begins.
Verify O*NET alignment before your employer posts the PERM role
The O*NET occupation profile for Social and Community Service Managers or Marketing Managers shapes the minimum requirements your employer can list. A mismatch between your actual duties and the posted job description is a common PERM audit trigger.
Green Card Head Of Social: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Head of Social role qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship?
Both are possible depending on how the job is defined. EB-2 applies when the role requires a master's degree or its equivalent in marketing, communications, or a related field. EB-3 covers positions requiring at least a bachelor's degree. Your employer's PERM labor certification specifies the minimum requirements, which must genuinely reflect what the job needs.
How does green card sponsorship differ from H-1B for this role?
H-1B visa is a temporary nonimmigrant status with a cap and lottery, renewed in three-year increments. Employment-based green card sponsorship through PERM and I-140 is a permanent residency pathway with no annual cap at the EB-3 level for most countries. The process takes longer, often two to four years for the full cycle, but the outcome is lawful permanent residency rather than a visa tied to one employer.
What does the PERM labor certification process actually require for this position?
Your employer must post the Head of Social role publicly, document that no qualified U.S. workers applied, and certify the offered wage meets the DOL prevailing wage for that occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search. USCIS then reviews the I-140 immigrant petition. Any inconsistency between the posted job duties and your actual work can trigger an audit or denial.
How do I find employers actively sponsoring green cards for Head of Social roles?
Most job postings don't disclose green card sponsorship intentions upfront. Migrate Mate lets you search Head of Social and related social media leadership roles filtered by employers with verified green card sponsorship history, so you're targeting companies that have already committed to the PERM process rather than hoping a cold application leads somewhere.
Can I switch employers after my I-140 is approved without losing my place in line?
Yes, with conditions. Once your I-140 has been approved for at least 180 days and your I-485 adjustment of status application is pending, AC21 portability allows you to change to a same or similar occupation without losing your priority date. For a Head of Social moving to a comparable social media leadership role, this protection generally applies, but your new employer should confirm the occupational similarity with an immigration attorney.
