Insurance Green Card Jobs
Insurance roles in underwriting, claims, actuarial analysis, and risk management qualify for EB-2 and EB-3 green card sponsorship through the PERM labor certification process. Employers file with DOL to document recruitment efforts, then petition USCIS for permanent residency. Candidates with actuarial credentials or advanced degrees in finance or mathematics often qualify at the EB-2 level.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Green Card Sponsorship in Insurance
Target carriers with established PERM filing histories
Large property-casualty carriers, reinsurance firms, and specialty insurance groups run structured immigration programs and file PERM regularly. Mid-size insurers that sponsor infrequently often lack the internal process knowledge to move a case forward efficiently.
Search green card sponsoring insurance employers on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters insurance roles by employers with active EB-2 and EB-3 sponsorship histories, so you can focus your applications on companies that have already committed to the PERM process rather than negotiating sponsorship from scratch.
Understand how PERM job descriptions affect your case
The PERM labor certification locks in a minimum job description. If your actual duties shift significantly after filing, USCIS can challenge the petition. Confirm your employer's posted requirements match your background before the recruitment phase begins.
Check prevailing wage levels before accepting an offer
DOL assigns your role a wage level using the OFLC Wage Search. Insurance underwriters and claims analysts are frequently classified at Level II or III. An offer below the certified prevailing wage will stall or invalidate the PERM filing.
Account for priority date backlogs in your planning
EB-3 applicants born in India or China face multi-year waits before a visa number becomes available. Nationals from most other countries move through EB-3 far faster. USCIS publishes the Visa Bulletin monthly so you can track your place in the queue.

Find Insurance JobsInsurance Green Card Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Which insurance roles typically qualify for EB-2 green card sponsorship?
Roles requiring an advanced degree or the equivalent in a specialized field qualify for EB-2. In insurance, that covers actuaries with graduate-level mathematics training, senior risk analysts, and compliance officers with law degrees. Underwriters and claims professionals with only a bachelor's degree typically fall under EB-3 as skilled workers, which still leads to permanent residency but at a different wage-level threshold.
How does green card sponsorship differ from H-1B for insurance professionals?
H-1B is a temporary nonimmigrant status capped at 85,000 per year with a lottery. PERM-based green card sponsorship, by contrast, leads to permanent residency and has no annual cap at the EB-3 level for most nationalities. The trade-off is timeline: PERM recruitment, I-140 adjudication, and adjustment of status together typically take two to three years, versus six months for an H-1B approval.
How can I find insurance employers that sponsor green cards?
Migrate Mate lets you search insurance roles specifically filtered by employers with EB-2 and EB-3 sponsorship histories. This removes the guesswork of approaching companies that have never run a PERM case. Focusing your applications on employers with a documented sponsorship track record substantially reduces the risk of a delayed or abandoned petition mid-process.
What does the PERM recruitment process mean for my insurance job search?
Before filing your PERM labor certification with DOL, your employer must run a compliant recruitment campaign, including job postings and documentation that no qualified U.S. worker applied. This typically takes 60 to 90 days. Your employer cannot withdraw or materially change the offered role during this window without restarting the process, so both parties need a firm commitment before recruitment begins.
Can I change insurance employers after my green card is filed?
You can port your I-140 petition to a new employer in the same or similar occupational classification once the petition has been approved and your adjustment of status application has been pending for 180 days or more. For insurance professionals, a move from one underwriting role to a comparable underwriting position at a different carrier generally qualifies under USCIS portability rules, but a switch to an unrelated function may not.
