Green Card Laundry Jobs
Laundry roles in commercial operations, healthcare facilities, and hospitality can qualify for EB-3 skilled worker sponsorship through the PERM labor certification process. Employers must demonstrate they can't fill the position domestically before petitioning for a permanent green card on your behalf.

Document your laundry equipment certifications early
PERM requires your employer to verify your qualifications match the job requirements exactly. Gather certifications for industrial washers, dry-cleaning equipment, or linen management systems before the process starts, since retroactive documentation causes delays.
Target healthcare and hospitality laundry departments
Hospitals, hotel chains, and uniform service companies operate large in-house laundry operations with dedicated HR teams experienced in sponsoring foreign workers. These employers file PERM petitions more regularly than small dry cleaners or residential services.
Search green card sponsoring employers on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter laundry and linen services roles by employers with active green card sponsorship history. This saves weeks of manually cross-referencing PERM disclosure data to find companies actually willing to file.
Verify the prevailing wage before accepting any offer
Your employer must pay the DOL-certified prevailing wage for your specific laundry role and geographic area. Run your job title and zip code through the OFLC Wage Search to confirm any offer meets the minimum before PERM filing begins.
Understand EB-3 unskilled versus skilled worker classification
USCIS distinguishes between EB-3 skilled workers, requiring at least two years of training or experience, and unskilled workers for roles needing less. Laundry attendant roles often fall under unskilled, which shares a separate visa queue and can affect your priority date timeline.
Ask employers about concurrent I-140 and I-485 filing
If a visa number is immediately available for your country and category, USCIS allows concurrent filing of the I-140 immigrant petition and I-485 adjustment of status application. This can shorten your total wait time by several months compared to sequential filing.
Green Card Laundry: Frequently Asked Questions
Do laundry jobs actually qualify for green card sponsorship?
Yes, both EB-3 skilled worker and EB-3 unskilled worker categories can cover laundry roles depending on the specific duties and experience required. Roles in industrial laundry operations, linen services, and healthcare laundry departments have been successfully sponsored through PERM. The employer bears responsibility for the labor certification filing, not you.
How does PERM green card sponsorship differ from H-1B for a laundry role?
H-1B visa requires a specialty occupation degree match, which most laundry roles don't satisfy, making green card sponsorship via PERM the practical route for this field. PERM leads to permanent residency rather than a temporary status with expiration dates. There's no annual lottery for EB-3, though wait times vary by country of birth due to visa backlog queues.
How long does the PERM and green card process take for laundry workers?
The PERM labor certification stage alone currently runs over a year at DOL. After certification, your employer files the I-140 petition with USCIS, and then you wait for a visa number based on your priority date and country of birth. For most applicants born outside India or China, the EB-3 queue moves within one to three years from PERM filing.
Where can I find laundry employers that sponsor green cards?
Migrate Mate lets you search laundry and linen services jobs filtered by employers with documented green card sponsorship activity. This is more reliable than general job searches because it surfaces companies that have filed PERM petitions before, which signals both the willingness and the internal HR process to sponsor.
Can I switch laundry employers after my green card process starts?
Changing employers during PERM resets the process because the labor certification is tied to the sponsoring employer and specific job. However, once your I-140 is approved and your priority date is current, portability rules under AC21 may allow you to transfer to a similar role without restarting, provided certain conditions are met with USCIS.
