Medical Laboratory Scientist Green Card Jobs
Medical Laboratory Scientist roles qualify for EB-2 and EB-3 green card sponsorship through PERM labor certification, which requires your employer to document that no qualified U.S. worker is available. Most positions fall under EB-3 as skilled professionals, though candidates with a master's degree or board specialization may qualify at the EB-2 level.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Green Card Sponsorship as a Medical Laboratory Scientist
Target hospital systems with active PERM filings
Large hospital networks and reference laboratories file PERM applications regularly for MLS roles. Filter your job search to employers with documented foreign-worker sponsorship history rather than responding to open postings that rarely lead to green card offers.
Search open positions on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate surfaces Medical Laboratory Scientist roles at employers with active green card sponsorship history, so you're not guessing which hiring managers will actually initiate the PERM process on your behalf.
Understand the prevailing wage before negotiating
Your employer's PERM application locks in a wage level tied to the DOL's prevailing wage determination. Use the OFLC Wage Search to look up Level I through Level IV wages for your SOC code and geographic area before accepting any offer.
Clarify sponsorship scope during the offer stage
Ask explicitly whether the employer will cover PERM recruitment costs, I-140 filing fees, and adjustment of status. Some labs sponsor only through I-140 and leave I-485 costs to you, which matters for multi-year planning.
Account for EB-3 priority date backlogs early
EB-3 professionals from India and China face multi-year priority date backlogs. File your I-140 as early as possible to lock in your priority date, even if your I-485 can't be submitted immediately, since the date travels with you if you change employers under AC21 portability.

Find Medical Laboratory Scientist JobsMedical Laboratory Scientist Green Card Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Medical Laboratory Scientist role qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship?
Most Medical Laboratory Scientist positions qualify under EB-3 as skilled workers requiring at least a bachelor's degree in clinical laboratory science or a related field. EB-2 sponsorship is available if the position genuinely requires a master's degree or you hold one and the employer can document the advanced-degree requirement. Board certifications like ASCP alone do not automatically lift a role into EB-2 territory.
How does green card sponsorship differ from H-1B sponsorship for this role?
Green card sponsorship through PERM and I-140 leads to permanent residency rather than a renewable temporary status. Unlike H-1B, there is no annual lottery for EB-3 petitions, and the employer initiates the process rather than a registration system. The tradeoff is timeline: PERM labor certification, I-140 approval, and I-485 adjudication typically span two to four years for applicants without priority date backlogs, compared to H-1B approval in a few months.
What does the PERM labor certification process require for an MLS role?
The employer must conduct a defined DOL recruitment campaign, including job postings, newspaper ads, and internal notices, to demonstrate no qualified U.S. worker is available at the prevailing wage. For Medical Laboratory Scientist roles, the employer cannot set requirements beyond what is normally required for the position. If a qualified U.S. applicant surfaces during recruitment, the PERM application cannot proceed.
Where can I find Medical Laboratory Scientist jobs with green card sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is designed specifically to surface roles at employers with active employment-based green card sponsorship history, filtered by job title and location. Standard job boards list open MLS positions but rarely indicate whether the employer has sponsored foreign workers through PERM before, making it difficult to prioritize outreach effectively.
Can I change employers after my I-140 is approved without losing my priority date?
Yes. Under AC21 portability, if your I-485 has been pending for at least 180 days and you move to a same or similar MLS role, your approved I-140 and its associated priority date remain valid. You'll need a new employer willing to continue sponsoring your adjustment of status, and USCIS may request evidence that the new role is substantially similar to the original petitioned position.
