Working under direct supervision, this role is responsible for troubleshooting and maintaining complex instrumentation, prioritizing workload to meet turnaround times, and staying updated on competencies and regulatory standards. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION:
- Performs all processes associated with testing of laboratory specimens, ensuring adherence to established policies and procedures to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
- Conducts quality control and assurance activities to maintain accuracy in specimen testing and reporting for effective diagnosis and treatment.
- Maintains and troubleshoots complex instrumentation and test systems, documenting corrective actions prior to releasing testing results to contribute to reliable test outcomes.
- Prioritizes duties and manages workload to meet established laboratory turnaround times for efficient patient care and treatment decisions.
- Stays updated on annual competencies, continuing education assignments, and regulatory standards, ensuring compliance with safety and compliance policies and procedures.
- Practices efficient use of supplies and actively participates in inventory control to maintain a cost-effective and well-equipped laboratory.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education:
- Required: Associate degree in medical laboratory technology, clinical laboratory science, or chemical, physical, or biological science.
Experience:
- Preferred: 1 year working as a technologist in a hospital or similar physician office laboratory.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/LISTING:
- Required: Must have Medical Laboratory Technician certification in one of the following certifications upon hire: - Medical Laboratory Technician with ASCP (American Society of Clinical Pathologists) or Medical Laboratory Technician with AMT (American Medical Technologists).
