Paramedic Green Card Jobs
Paramedic roles can qualify for EB-3 green card sponsorship through the PERM labor certification process when employers demonstrate no qualified U.S. workers are available. Some advanced-practice paramedics with specialized credentials may meet EB-2 criteria. Sponsorship typically requires a full-time offer from a hospital system, fire district, or private EMS provider willing to file.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Green Card Sponsorship in Paramedic
Verify your credential equivalency before applying
Foreign paramedic certifications must be evaluated against the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians standard. Get a formal credential evaluation early, USCIS and PERM reviewers will scrutinize whether your training meets U.S. state licensure requirements for the role.
Target hospital-based EMS systems specifically
Hospital-owned ambulance services and integrated health systems sponsor green cards far more often than municipal fire departments, which face civil-service hiring rules that block PERM filings. Focus your search on health systems with in-house transport divisions.
Search green card sponsors using Migrate Mate
Filter by Paramedic roles and EB-3 sponsorship history using Migrate Mate to surface employers who have filed PERM applications for this occupation before, rather than cold-applying to systems with no sponsorship track record.
Confirm state licensure before the employer files
PERM job descriptions must list the licensure requirements your state mandates for paramedics. If you haven't obtained your state EMS license before the filing, DOL can reject the application on the grounds that you don't meet the stated minimum requirements.
Understand the PERM prevailing wage before negotiating
Your employer must pay at or above the DOL-certified prevailing wage for the Paramedic SOC code in their metro area. Use the OFLC Wage Search to look up the Level I through Level IV wage tiers so you enter salary negotiations knowing the floor.
Ask employers about concurrent I-140 and I-485 filing
If a visa number is immediately available for your country under EB-3, your employer can file the I-140 immigrant petition and your I-485 adjustment of status simultaneously, cutting months off your wait. Confirm this timing with your employer's immigration counsel before accepting an offer.

Find Paramedic JobsParamedic Green Card Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Can a paramedic job qualify for EB-3 green card sponsorship?
Yes. Paramedic positions qualify as skilled worker roles under EB-3 when the employer can document that no qualified U.S. workers are available through the PERM labor certification process. The employer must advertise the position, document the recruitment, and file with DOL before submitting the I-140 immigrant petition to USCIS.
How does PERM green card sponsorship differ from H-1B for paramedics?
H-1B requires the role to qualify as a specialty occupation, which is difficult for most paramedic positions. PERM-based EB-3 sponsorship has no annual lottery and leads to permanent residency rather than temporary status. The process is longer, typically two to four years total, but the outcome is a green card, not a renewable temporary visa.
Which types of EMS employers are most likely to sponsor paramedics for a green card?
Hospital-owned EMS divisions and large private ambulance companies are the most common sponsors because they have dedicated HR and legal infrastructure for immigration filings. Municipal fire departments and county EMS agencies rarely sponsor because civil-service rules require open competitive hiring processes that conflict with PERM's structured recruitment requirements.
How do I find paramedic employers who have sponsored green cards before?
Search Migrate Mate to filter paramedic and emergency medical services roles by employers with verified EB-3 PERM filing history. This surfaces health systems and EMS companies that have successfully completed sponsorships before, which is a strong signal they'll sponsor again rather than treating your request as an unprecedented ask.
Does my foreign paramedic certification count toward EB-3 eligibility?
It can, but it must be formally evaluated against U.S. equivalency standards. PERM applications list specific education and training requirements, and USCIS will assess whether your foreign credentials meet them. A credential evaluation from a recognized evaluation service, combined with your state EMS licensure, is typically what satisfies both the DOL and USCIS review.
