Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Green Card Sponsorship as a Sourcing Manager
Translate your credentials into PERM language
PERM applications specify exact educational and experience requirements. Before applying, verify your degree field maps to the job description your employer will file, since a mismatch between your credentials and the posted minimum requirements can delay or invalidate the labor certification.
Benchmark your salary against the prevailing wage
DOL requires your employer to pay the prevailing wage for your location and job level. Use the OFLC Wage Search to find the Level II or Level III wage for Sourcing Manager roles in your metro before salary negotiations begin, so sponsorship isn't blocked by a low offer.
Target employers with in-house procurement teams
Companies with dedicated procurement or supply chain departments are structurally more likely to sponsor EB-2 and EB-3 roles, since they've already classified Sourcing Manager as a recurring specialty position. Manufacturing, retail, and logistics firms regularly file PERM for this occupation.
Clarify the green card timeline before signing
Unlike H-1B visa, PERM-based sponsorship takes 18 to 36 months before you receive permanent residency, and your employer must commit to the role existing through your I-140 approval. Confirm the hiring manager understands this timeline and that the position isn't project-based or temporary.
Search green card sponsors using Migrate Mate
Filter sourcing and procurement roles by employers with active EB-2 or EB-3 filing history using Migrate Mate, which surfaces PERM disclosure data by job title and location so you can focus your applications on companies already set up to sponsor.
File your I-140 concurrently if EB-3 backlog applies
If your country of birth faces an EB-3 priority date backlog, ask your employer to file the I-140 petition immediately after PERM approval rather than waiting. An approved I-140 locks in your priority date even if you change employers later, protecting years of sponsorship progress.
Green Card Sourcing Manager: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Sourcing Manager role qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship?
Sourcing Manager positions typically qualify for EB-3 when the employer requires a bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, or a related field. EB-2 applies when the role genuinely requires an advanced degree or when the candidate holds a master's and the employer can document that the advanced degree is a standard requirement, not a preference.
How does PERM green card sponsorship differ from H-1B for this role?
H-1B is a temporary status capped at 65,000 registrations annually and subject to lottery selection. PERM-based sponsorship has no annual cap at the petition stage, and approval leads to permanent residency rather than a time-limited status. The trade-off is timeline: PERM labor certification, I-140 approval, and adjustment of status together take 18 to 36 months or longer depending on your country of birth and priority date.
What does the PERM labor certification process require from a Sourcing Manager employer?
The employer must conduct a good-faith recruitment effort showing no minimally qualified U.S. worker applied for the role at the prevailing wage. This includes posting the job through specific channels DOL requires, documenting all applicants reviewed, and filing the ETA Form 9089 with the Office of Foreign Labor Certification. The entire recruitment and filing window typically runs three to six months before PERM certification.
Can I find Sourcing Manager jobs where the employer already sponsors green cards?
Yes. Migrate Mate lets you search procurement and sourcing roles filtered by employers with documented EB-2 and EB-3 filing history, using PERM disclosure data. This narrows your search to companies that have already navigated the sponsorship process for similar roles, which significantly reduces the negotiation burden on your end.
What happens to my green card sponsorship if I change jobs mid-process?
If you change employers before your I-140 is approved, your PERM labor certification does not transfer and the process restarts from the beginning. Once your I-140 is approved and you've been waiting more than 180 days, USCIS portability rules may allow you to transfer the priority date to a new sponsoring employer in the same or a similar occupational classification, protecting your place in the queue.
