Verify your degree supports specialty occupation
ABM Manager roles require demonstrating your degree directly relates to the position. A marketing, business, or communications degree maps cleanly. An unrelated degree needs supporting coursework documentation or a credential evaluation before your employer files.
Target B2B SaaS companies with LCA history
Enterprise software and SaaS employers file H-1B LCAs far more consistently than consumer brands or agencies. Use Migrate Mate to filter ABM Manager roles by employers with verified DOL filing history before applying.
Check the prevailing wage before negotiating
Your employer's LCA must certify your salary meets the DOL prevailing wage for your metro area. Look up the wage level for your specific location using the OFLC Wage Search before you enter salary discussions.
Flag your ABM tech stack in your application
Employers filing H-1B petitions for ABM roles document why the position requires a specialized degree. Proficiency in platforms like Demandbase, 6sense, or Terminus strengthens the specialty occupation argument in your petition narrative.
Confirm the employer is E-Verify enrolled
USCIS requires H-1B employers to participate in E-Verify. Ask HR directly during the offer stage. Agencies and marketing consultancies sponsoring H-1B workers for the first time sometimes lack enrollment, which delays filing.
Start the I-129 timeline conversation at offer
ABM Manager roles are cap-subject, so your employer must file during the April lottery window. If you're starting mid-year on OPT or another status, confirm your employer's law firm is engaged and ready to file in Q1.
H-1B Visa Account Based Marketing Manager: Frequently Asked Questions
Does an Account Based Marketing Manager role qualify as an H-1B specialty occupation?
Yes, provided the role requires at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field such as marketing, business, or communications. The employer documents this requirement in the LCA filing. Generalist marketing coordinator roles sometimes fail this test, but ABM Manager positions tied to enterprise pipeline strategy typically satisfy USCIS's specialty occupation definition.
Which types of employers are most likely to sponsor H-1B visas for ABM Manager roles?
B2B SaaS companies, enterprise software vendors, and cloud platform providers sponsor ABM Manager H-1B petitions most consistently because they have dedicated legal teams and recurring immigration budgets. Marketing agencies and consumer brands sponsor far less frequently. You can filter by employers with active LCA filing history on Migrate Mate to focus your search on realistic targets.
Can I transfer my H-1B to a new employer for an ABM Manager role?
Yes. H-1B portability allows you to start working for a new employer as soon as they file a transfer petition with USCIS, without waiting for approval, as long as you've maintained valid status. Your new employer files a new I-129, and the specialty occupation documentation restarts with your new role description and their prevailing wage determination.
What O*NET classification applies to Account Based Marketing Manager roles?
ABM Manager roles typically map to O*NET's Marketing Managers classification. Reviewing the O*NET profile for that occupation code shows the education and knowledge requirements USCIS uses to assess specialty occupation eligibility. Your employer's immigration attorney will reference this classification when drafting the I-129 petition support letter.
How do I know if an ABM Manager job posting leads to actual H-1B sponsorship?
Many postings mention visa sponsorship without disclosing whether the employer has filed H-1B petitions before. The most reliable signal is an employer's historical LCA filing record with the DOL, which shows actual petitions filed by job title and location. USCIS adjudicates each petition individually, so confirmed filing history is a stronger indicator than a sponsorship checkbox in a job posting.
