Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding H-1B Visa Sponsorship as a Demand Planning Manager
Align your degree to the role
USCIS requires your degree field to directly relate to demand planning work. A supply chain, operations research, statistics, or industrial engineering degree strengthens specialty occupation approval. A general business degree may trigger a Request for Evidence.
Search LCA filings by occupation code
Use the OFLC Wage Search to filter Labor Condition Application filings under SOC code 13-1081 for Logisticians or 11-3071 for Transportation Managers. This surfaces employers who have sponsored comparable roles and shows certified wage levels in your target metro.
Target employers outside the lottery cap
Universities, nonprofit research organizations, and government-related entities are cap-exempt, meaning your petition bypasses the annual H-1B lottery entirely. Demand planning roles exist at large research-driven institutions, and cap-exempt sponsorship removes the uncertainty of April registration.
Find H-1B sponsors on Migrate Mate
Filter Demand Planning Manager listings on Migrate Mate by employers with verified H-1B filing history. This narrows your search to companies that have already navigated the sponsorship process for this function, saving you from applying to roles where sponsorship is unlikely.
Document your forecasting tool expertise
Demand planning roles often require specialized software proficiency in SAP IBP, Oracle Demantra, or Kinaxis RapidResponse. Certifications or project records tied to these platforms reinforce the specialty occupation argument by demonstrating the theoretical and applied knowledge USCIS looks for.
Negotiate filing timing before accepting an offer
Confirm whether the employer will file for premium processing and clarify whether your start date requires a cap-subject or cap-exempt petition. If you're on OPT, verify your STEM extension timeline against the October 1 H-1B start date so there's no gap in work authorization.
H-1B Visa Demand Planning Manager: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Demand Planning Manager role qualify as an H-1B specialty occupation?
Yes. Demand Planning Manager positions typically require at least a bachelor's degree in supply chain management, operations research, statistics, or a closely related field. USCIS evaluates specialty occupation based on the degree requirement for the specific role, not just the job title. If the employer's job description specifies a relevant degree as a minimum requirement, the position generally qualifies.
Which industries sponsor H-1B visas most often for demand planning roles?
Consumer packaged goods, retail, pharmaceuticals, electronics, and automotive manufacturing are the industries with the heaviest demand planning hiring and corresponding H-1B sponsorship activity. These sectors run large supply chain organizations where forecasting accuracy is tied directly to revenue, making them willing to sponsor experienced professionals. You can confirm active sponsors by searching H-1B LCA filings through the OFLC Wage Search or by browsing verified-sponsor listings on Migrate Mate.
Can I transfer my H-1B to a new Demand Planning Manager job without starting over?
Yes. Under H-1B portability rules, you can start working for a new employer as soon as your transfer petition is filed, provided you've been in valid H-1B status for at least 180 days. The new employer files an I-129 petition describing the demand planning role, and you don't need to re-enter the lottery. Maintain your I-94 and pay stubs from the previous employer throughout the transition.
How does the prevailing wage requirement affect H-1B sponsorship for this role?
Your employer must pay at least the prevailing wage for a Demand Planning Manager in your work location, as determined by DOL wage data. Prevailing wages are set at four wage levels based on experience and complexity of duties. Senior demand planning positions with cross-functional scope typically fall at Level III or IV. You can look up applicable wage rates for your metro using the OFLC Wage Search before negotiating your offer.
What should I look for in an employer's H-1B sponsorship commitment for a demand planning role?
Ask whether the employer will cover H-1B filing fees, including the I-129 petition and premium processing if you need a faster decision. Confirm the employer has sponsored this specific function before, since procurement or logistics titles are sometimes misclassified in ways that draw USCIS scrutiny. An employer with a dedicated immigration team or outside counsel is better positioned to handle a Request for Evidence if the specialty occupation determination is questioned.
