Align your degree to SOC codes
Enterprise Application Architect maps to multiple SOC codes depending on the employer's LCA filing. Pull the O*NET profile for your target code and confirm your degree field matches the stated education requirement before applying.
Target employers with cap-exempt status
Universities, nonprofit research institutions, and government-affiliated entities can file H-1B petitions year-round without the lottery. Architecture roles at these institutions are real and often underapplied for compared to commercial tech employers.
Search LCA filings before you apply
Use Migrate Mate to filter Enterprise Application Architect roles by employers with active H-1B LCA filing history, so every application goes to a company that has already committed to sponsoring this job title.
Verify prevailing wage before negotiating
Run the OFLC Wage Search for your target SOC code and work location before discussing compensation. Your offered salary must meet the DOL prevailing wage or the LCA will not certify, regardless of employer intent.
Request the I-129 receipt before your start date
If you're transferring from another H-1B employer, you can start work once the new petition is filed and you have the receipt notice. Don't wait for approval, but don't resign your current role until that receipt is in hand.
Document architecture deliverables for RFE defense
USCIS scrutinizes whether Enterprise Application Architect duties constitute a specialty occupation. Compile signed architecture decision records, design documents, and performance reviews that show a bachelor's degree in a specific field was operationally required, not merely preferred.
H-1B Visa Enterprise Application Architect: Frequently Asked Questions
Does an Enterprise Application Architect role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B purposes?
Yes, provided the employer can demonstrate the position normally requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific technical discipline such as computer science, software engineering, or information systems. Roles where the employer accepts any bachelor's degree regardless of field face higher RFE rates, so job descriptions should specify the required field clearly before the LCA is filed.
Which industries sponsor H-1B visas most frequently for Enterprise Application Architect positions?
Financial services firms, large consulting practices, healthcare systems, and enterprise software companies file LCAs for this title regularly. You can browse verified H-1B sponsoring employers hiring for Enterprise Application Architect roles on Migrate Mate, filtered by industry and location, without sorting through postings from companies with no filing history.
Can I change employers mid-H-1B if I'm already working as an Enterprise Application Architect?
Yes. H-1B portability under AC21 lets you start with a new employer once the transfer petition is filed, as long as your current status is valid and the new role is in the same or a similar occupational classification. For Enterprise Application Architect transfers, confirm the new employer's LCA covers the same SOC code your current petition used to stay within portability rules.
How does the H-1B prevailing wage requirement affect Enterprise Application Architect offers?
The employer must file an LCA certifying your offered wage meets or exceeds the DOL prevailing wage for the relevant SOC code in the work location. Enterprise Application Architect roles typically fall at wage level III or IV depending on supervisory scope and complexity. Use the OFLC Wage Search to check the applicable wage before you enter salary negotiations.
Does an Enterprise Application Architect need to be on-site to maintain H-1B status?
Your H-1B is tied to the worksite location listed on the certified LCA. Remote or hybrid arrangements that move your primary work location to a different metropolitan statistical area require a new LCA before you begin working there. Short-term assignments at client sites under 60 workdays per year in a location may qualify for a short-term placement exemption, but longer engagements need an amended petition.
