Frame your degree for specialty occupation
USCIS requires a direct connection between your degree field and the Enterprise Sales role. A business, marketing, or communications degree maps cleanly. An unrelated degree needs a cover letter explaining how your coursework directly supports enterprise sales functions.
Target employers with LCA filing history
Use Migrate Mate to filter Enterprise Sales Representative roles by verified H-1B Labor Condition Application filings. Employers with active LCA history have already cleared DOL's prevailing-wage process and are set up to sponsor, which shortens your path from offer to petition.
Check prevailing wage before negotiating
Your H-1B petition requires your offered salary to meet or exceed the DOL prevailing wage for your metro area. Run the OFLC Wage Search before your offer call so you know the Level II or III threshold for Enterprise Sales in your city.
Ask about cap-exempt employers early
Universities, nonprofit research institutions, and government contractors can file H-1B petitions outside the annual lottery cap. Enterprise sales roles at these organizations, such as selling software to university systems, can get you sponsored without waiting for April registration.
Clarify who owns the I-129 filing timeline
Enterprise sales hiring moves fast, but H-1B cap-subject petitions must be filed by April 1 for an October 1 start. Confirm during the offer stage whether the employer's legal team or an outside immigration firm handles the I-129, and get a committed filing date in writing.
Document your enterprise sales experience precisely
For specialty occupation approval, your resume and support letter must show that your role requires degree-level knowledge, not just sales experience. Highlight responsibilities like solution architecture, procurement cycle management, or technical product demonstrations that signal professional complexity.
H-1B Visa Enterprise Sales Representative: Frequently Asked Questions
Does an Enterprise Sales Representative role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B purposes?
It can, but the burden is on the employer to demonstrate that the specific role requires at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field. Generic sales positions can face RFEs. Roles involving technical products, complex procurement cycles, or solution-based selling tied to a defined degree field have a stronger specialty occupation case. Your offer letter and employer support letter need to make that connection explicitly.
Which industries are most likely to sponsor H-1B visas for enterprise sales roles?
Enterprise software, cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, and SaaS companies sponsor H-1B holders in sales roles most consistently. These employers sell technical products where a degree in computer science, business, or engineering directly supports the job duties. Manufacturing, financial services platforms, and healthcare technology companies are also active sponsors. Browse verified LCA-filing employers on Migrate Mate to see which companies are currently active.
Can I transfer my H-1B to a new enterprise sales employer mid-year?
Yes. H-1B portability allows you to start working for a new employer as soon as the new I-129 petition is filed, as long as you've been in valid H-1B status for at least 180 days. The new employer files a transfer petition with USCIS, and your role title and wage must still meet specialty occupation and prevailing wage requirements. You don't need to wait for approval to start.
What is the prevailing wage requirement for an Enterprise Sales Representative H-1B petition?
DOL requires your offered salary to meet the prevailing wage for your specific job title and work location, determined by the OFLC Wage Search tool. Enterprise sales roles typically fall at Level II or Level III depending on experience. The employer certifies this wage in the Labor Condition Application before filing the H-1B petition. If your offer is below the applicable level, the LCA won't clear DOL.
Does O*NET classify Enterprise Sales Representative as a specialty occupation?
O*NET lists Sales Representatives, Wholesale and Manufacturing, Technical and Scientific Products under a job zone that typically requires a bachelor's degree. USCIS adjudicators may reference this classification when evaluating the petition. If your role involves technical or scientific products, the O*NET profile strengthens your specialty occupation argument. Roles in non-technical verticals require more documentation to establish the degree requirement.
