Map your degree to the SOC code
ERP Business Analyst roles most often file under SOC 15-1211 (Computer Systems Analysts). Pull the O*NET profile for that code and verify your degree field aligns before applications, so you can address specialty occupation questions before they become RFEs.
Filter employers by LCA filing history
Use Migrate Mate to search ERP Business Analyst roles by employer LCA filing history, so you only target companies that have already certified prevailing wages for this occupation, not just posted a job listing.
Verify the prevailing wage tier before negotiating
Run your target job title, SOC code, and work location through the OFLC Wage Search before any offer conversation. DOL wage levels I through IV determine what your employer must certify, and a Level I offer on a senior ERP scope is a common mismatch worth flagging early.
Document your ERP system specialization clearly
Your resume and supporting credentials should name the specific ERP platform (SAP, Oracle, Workday, Microsoft Dynamics) and module. USCIS adjudicators use this specificity to confirm the role requires a directly related degree field, not a general business background.
Confirm E-Verify enrollment before accepting an offer
Ask whether the employer is enrolled in E-Verify during the offer stage, not after. Cap-exempt organizations aside, STEM OPT and post-lottery cap-gap authorization both require E-Verify enrollment, and discovering a gap after signing creates serious timeline problems.
Time your application around the October 1 start date
H-1B petitions for cap-subject employers can't begin employment before October 1 of the fiscal year selected. Employers filing in April for a late-year ERP rollout may need to negotiate a delayed start clause, so confirm project timelines align with the statutory start window.
H-1B Visa ERP Business Analyst: Frequently Asked Questions
Does an ERP Business Analyst role qualify as an H-1B specialty occupation?
Yes, provided the position genuinely requires at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field such as information systems, computer science, or business information technology. Roles that accept any bachelor's degree regardless of field can draw RFEs from USCIS. Your offer letter and employer's internal job description should specify the required degree field, not just list it as preferred.
Which employers sponsor H-1B visas for ERP Business Analyst positions?
Employers that regularly sponsor H-1B visas for ERP roles include large consulting firms, enterprise software implementers, and multinational corporations running SAP, Oracle, or Workday environments. The most reliable way to identify active sponsors is to search verified LCA filing history by occupation on Migrate Mate, which surfaces employers that have already certified this role with DOL rather than those who only list it as open.
Can I switch ERP platforms or modules after my H-1B is approved?
A material change in job duties, such as moving from a certified SAP Financial Accounting scope to a different platform or functional area, may require an amended H-1B petition. If the SOC code and core duties stay consistent and the wage level remains appropriate, minor project shifts typically don't require amendment. Confirm with your employer's immigration counsel before a formal role change is finalized.
How does the prevailing wage requirement affect ERP Business Analyst offers?
Your employer must certify through DOL that your offered salary meets the prevailing wage for the ERP Business Analyst occupation in your specific work location. DOL assigns wage levels I through IV based on experience, supervision, and complexity. A mismatch, such as a Level I wage for a lead implementation role, can stall LCA certification. Use the OFLC Wage Search to check the applicable wage level before evaluating any offer.
What happens to my H-1B status if my employer's ERP project ends early?
If your employment ends before your H-1B petition expiry, you have a 60-day grace period to find a new sponsoring employer, file for a change of status, or depart the United States. A new employer can file an H-1B transfer petition at any time and you can begin working as soon as the transfer receipt notice issues, without waiting for approval. Start the transfer process immediately, not after the grace period begins.
