This role operates as an internal consultant and platform owner, partnering directly with Accounting, FP&A, Operations, and Technology leadership to translate business challenges into scalable system solutions. The goal is clear: elevate the organization's finance systems maturity and build a unified, high-trust operating environment where NetSuite and its surrounding ecosystem run reliably, integrate cleanly, and enable better decisions across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Own, administer, and maintain the NetSuite ERP platform across active modules, ensuring platform stability, security, and operational effectiveness – with clear accountability for minimizing unplanned downtime and maintaining proper sandbox/production governance

- Manage sandbox and production environments, deployments, release cycles, and platform governance standards
- Support and oversee SuiteScript customizations, workflows, and automation initiatives in alignment with NetSuite best practices
- Design and maintain integrations between NetSuite and supporting finance systems, ensuring data flows are reliable, auditable, and properly reconciled – eliminating manual re-keying and reducing error rates across platforms
- Operate as an internal consultant to Accounting, FP&A, Operations, and Technology leadership – proactively identifying enhancement opportunities, translating business challenges into scalable system solutions, and driving measurable reductions in cycle time across core workflows including financial close, AP/AR, and expense management
- Coordinate with third-party vendors and implementation partners on enhancements, integrations, and ERP projects – serving as the internal point of contact and maintaining accountability for outcomes and knowledge transfer back to the team
- Manage support tickets, escalations, and vendor relationships for all systems under this role's ownership
- Ensure compliance with security, access control, audit, retention, and governance standards – and maintain SOPs, documentation, configuration standards, and operational readiness processes across all managed platforms
- Support reporting, dashboards, and financial visibility tools within NetSuite and related platforms, ensuring outputs are accurate, timely, and aligned with Accounting, Insurance, and Government standards
- Drive training, onboarding, and user adoption across the finance systems stack – monitoring automation impact, data quality, and platform usage as ongoing measures of this role's effectiveness
- Required to perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned
Requirements and Qualifications
- 5+ years of hands-on NetSuite administration experience across multiple modules – non-negotiable
- Experience managing ERP implementation, enhancement, or systems optimization projects end-to-end, including coordination with third-party implementation partners
- Strong understanding of accounting and finance workflows including AP, AR, financial close, and reporting processes
- Experience administering supporting finance platforms such as Ramp, Datarails, Brex, Adaptive, or similar tools
- Technical fluency across NetSuite's customization and integration toolset – SuiteScript, SuiteFlow, SuiteBuilder, SuiteTalk REST/SOAP, middleware, and API-based approaches
- Demonstrated ability to operate as an internal consultant – proactively partnering with business stakeholders, translating challenges into system-driven solutions, and communicating effectively across finance, operations, and technology teams
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel including advanced formulas and pivot tables
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred; NetSuite Administrator or SuiteFoundation certification preferred

Frame your ERP credentials around specialty occupation
USCIS evaluates whether your role requires a directly related degree, not just technical skills. Document how your finance systems work ties to a specific academic discipline, accounting information systems, MIS, or financial engineering, before your employer files the I-129.
Use OFLC Wage Search to verify your offer level
Your employer's LCA must certify a wage at or above the prevailing wage for your SOC code and metro area. Pull the OFLC Wage Search figures yourself so you can flag any mismatch before the DOL filing window opens.
Target companies running Oracle, SAP, or Workday implementations
Large ERP rollouts create Finance Systems Manager headcount that's budget-approved and timeline-driven. Employers mid-implementation are more likely to sponsor because the role is tied to a defined project with compliance obligations, not just a general backfill.
Search Migrate Mate for employers with active LCA filing history
Filter by Finance Systems Manager and related SOC codes on Migrate Mate to see which employers have filed Labor Condition Applications for this role, giving you a verified list of sponsors before you apply.
Clarify change-of-employer timing before accepting an offer
If you're transferring from an existing H-1B, your new employer can file a portability petition and you can start work upon receipt, but the I-129 must be filed before your current status expires. Confirm the employer's filing timeline in writing during negotiations.
Prepare a role-specific specialty occupation memo proactively
USCIS issues RFEs on Finance Systems Manager petitions when the job description blends IT generalist duties with finance oversight. Work with your employer to document that the role requires a specific finance or systems degree, not just any bachelor's, before the petition is filed.
H-1B Visa Finance Systems Manager: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Finance Systems Manager role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B purposes?
Yes, provided the position genuinely requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a directly related field such as accounting information systems, management information systems, or finance. Roles that accept any bachelor's degree regardless of field are more likely to receive an RFE from USCIS. Your employer's job description should specify the degree field to support the petition.
Which employers typically sponsor H-1B visas for Finance Systems Manager positions?
Large enterprises running multi-year ERP implementations, financial services firms upgrading core banking or reporting platforms, and consulting firms that deploy finance systems for clients are the most consistent sponsors. You can browse employers with verified LCA filing history for this role on Migrate Mate before targeting your applications.
What SOC code is used for Finance Systems Manager roles on the LCA?
Most Finance Systems Manager positions are filed under SOC 11-3031 (Financial Managers) or 15-1299 (Computer and Information Systems Managers, All Other), depending on whether the role is classified as primarily managerial-financial or technical-systems. The SOC code determines the prevailing wage tier your employer must certify on the LCA, so the classification has a direct impact on your offer structure.
Can I switch employers mid-H-1B if I'm already working as a Finance Systems Manager?
Yes, H-1B portability allows you to start with a new employer once they file an I-129 petition on your behalf, as long as your current status is valid at the time of filing and you're moving into a same or similar occupational classification. Finance Systems Manager to a comparable systems or financial management role generally satisfies the same-or-similar test, but your new employer's attorney should confirm this before you resign.
How does the H-1B lottery affect Finance Systems Manager job seekers?
If you're not already on an H-1B, your employer must register you in the annual USCIS lottery, which opens in March for an October 1 start date. Cap-exempt employers, universities, nonprofit research organizations, and government-related entities, can file outside the lottery. For cap-subject employers, the registration window is narrow, so aligning your job search and offer timeline with the February-to-March period is critical.
