ABOUT THE TEAM
We’re a fast-moving team of engineers building the Remote Control system that powers teleoperation and fleet management for autonomous cars and delivery robots. Our tools enable operators to assist vehicles in complex urban environments via real-time video, map-based navigation, and custom interfaces optimized for low-latency decision-making. We care about performance, reliability, and thoughtful UX design — all in service of safe and scalable autonomy operations.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We’re looking for a Senior Frontend Engineer to help us push the boundaries of what real-time web interfaces can do. You’ll be responsible for developing the operator-facing frontend of our Remote Control stack - the live command center that humans use to assist cars and robots in the wild.
This is a hands-on, high-impact role where your work directly shapes how autonomy operates at scale.
- Build and maintain low-latency, real-time interfaces for controlling autonomous cars and robots
- Architect robust React applications that integrate live video feeds, real-time maps, and interactive controls for navigation and remote assistance
- Optimize for operator efficiency: keyboard workflows, high-res layouts, fast feedback loops
- Collaborate with backend, robotics, and UX teams to shape APIs and flows for reliability under edge conditions
- Ship fast, iterate often, and deliver responsive, intuitive tools that support autonomous vehicle operations
- Strong React and TypeScript skills — proven track record building fast, maintainable apps
- Real-time mindset — experience working with websockets, live data, or streaming video is a plus
- UI intuition — you care about interface design and performance, and you know how to debug slow or janky UIs
- System thinking — you know how frontend fits into the bigger picture, and you write code that holds up under load
NICE TO HAVE
- Experience with WebRTC, low-latency video, or socket-based architectures
- Familiarity with telemetry, maps, or robotics/vehicle systems
- Basic Python or Go skills for debugging backend issues
Candidates are required to be authorized to work in the U.S. The employer is not offering relocation sponsorship, and remote work options are not available.

Verify your degree supports specialty occupation
USCIS requires your degree field to directly relate to frontend engineering work. A computer science or software engineering degree is straightforward. An unrelated degree needs supporting documentation showing how it maps to the role's technical requirements.
Check employer LCA filing history before applying
Use the OFLC Wage Search to confirm a company has certified LCAs for frontend or software roles. An employer that has never filed is a risk, LCA certification is required before USCIS will even accept your H-1B petition. Migrate Mate surfaces this DOL filing history by employer and role so you can screen before you apply.
Target cap-exempt employers to bypass the lottery
Universities, nonprofit research institutions, and government research organizations are cap-exempt. A frontend role at a university's digital products team or a nonprofit's tech division can get you H-1B status year-round without competing in the April lottery.
Document your frontend specialization for the LCA wage level
DOL assigns your prevailing wage based on job duties and experience tier. If your role involves architecting design systems or leading technical decisions, ensure the job description reflects that complexity so the LCA isn't filed at an entry-level wage tier.
Prepare for RFE risk in generalist frontend titles
USCIS increasingly issues Requests for Evidence for broadly titled roles like 'Web Developer.' Your offer letter and employer support documentation should emphasize degree-required technical duties, specific frameworks, and system complexity to establish specialty occupation status.

Find Frontend Engineer JobsFrontend Engineer H-1B Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Frontend Engineer role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B purposes?
Yes, frontend engineering qualifies as a specialty occupation when the role requires at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a closely related field. USCIS scrutinizes broadly titled roles, so the job description should emphasize degree-required duties such as architecting component systems, implementing complex state management, or leading technical design decisions rather than general web maintenance tasks.
How do I find employers who have actually sponsored H-1B visas for Frontend Engineers?
Migrate Mate filters job listings by verified DOL Labor Condition Application filing history, so every employer you see has a documented record of H-1B sponsorship for technical roles. This is more reliable than asking a recruiter, since LCA filings are public DOL records tied to specific job titles and work locations.
What happens to my H-1B if my frontend role shifts significantly after I'm approved?
A material change in job duties, work location, or employer can require an amended H-1B petition filed with USCIS before the change takes effect. Relocating to a new metropolitan area, for example, requires a new LCA certified at the prevailing wage for that location. Minor updates to your tech stack or project assignments typically don't trigger an amendment requirement.
Can I work on a contract or freelance basis as a Frontend Engineer on H-1B?
H-1B status requires a bona fide employer-employee relationship, meaning the sponsoring employer must control your work. Staffing arrangements where you're placed at a client site are permitted, but purely independent contracting where you set your own hours and deliverables without an employer directing your work does not satisfy USCIS requirements for H-1B authorization.
How does the H-1B prevailing wage requirement affect frontend engineering job offers?
Your employer must pay at least the DOL prevailing wage for your frontend role in the specific metropolitan area where you'll work. The wage level depends on your experience tier, from entry-level through fully competent. You can look up applicable wage ranges by occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search before accepting an offer to verify the proposed salary is compliant.
