INTRODUCTION
Who we are
About Stripe
Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies—from the world’s largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups—use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone’s reach while doing the most important work of your career.
About The Team
The Operations Performance & Enablement Team supports the TaxJar product and broader Tax Operations teams by using data to drive better decisions and continuous improvement. We make performance visible, decisions deliberate, and improvement repeatable—acting as a force multiplier by uncovering insights early, translating signals into action, and building systems that ensure one-time fixes become repeatable capabilities. Our work enables the tax operations organization to scale with stability and confidence.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
What you’ll do
We're looking for an Operations Insights analyst to help us understand and improve how our Tax operations scale and deliver. In this role, you'll investigate operational performance, analyze data to uncover meaningful patterns, and build reporting infrastructure that enables teams to make better decisions. You'll work at the intersection of data analysis, operations, and product insights—translating complex operational data into clear insights that drive action. This role is ideal for someone who excels at digging into robust operational data, asking "why" repeatedly, and building systems that help others find answers independently.
Responsibilities
- Investigate operational performance: Conduct deep-dive analyses to uncover why metrics change, distinguish signal from noise, and identify root causes across filing operations, user operations, and risk workflows
- Partner with operations teams: Work directly with operational teams to analyze workflows, understand user behavior, and translate findings into actionable recommendations
- Improve measurement rigor: Refine metric definitions, ensure data reliability, and strengthen how we measure operational performance across the organization
- Support experiments and improvements: Apply statistical analysis to evaluate the impact of operational changes and experiments
- Enable operational observability: Create systems, dashboards, and self-serve reporting tools that allow operational teams to explore and interpret performance data on their own and reduce recurring data requests
- Communicate insights to leadership: Prepare clear, compelling operational insights for leadership reviews and strategic planning discussions
WHO YOU ARE
We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.
- Curious investigator: You naturally ask "why" and don't stop until you understand what's really happening
- Systems thinker: You see how operational pieces connect and look for leverage points for improvement
- Builder mindset: You don't just answer questions — you build infrastructure so teams can answer their own
- Clear communicator: You translate complex analysis into insights that drive decisions
- Collaborative partner: You work effectively with varied operations teams, product, engineering, and leadership
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- 3+ years of experience in operations analytics, business intelligence, or data analysis
- Strong SQL skills and experience working with large operational datasets
- Experience building dashboards and reporting tools (e.g., Tableau, Looker, or similar)
- Demonstrated ability to conduct investigations and identify root causes in operational data
- Clear communication skills—able to explain technical findings to non-technical audiences
- Comfort with ambiguity and ability to structure open-ended analytical problems
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in tax operations, financial services, or regulated operational environments
- Familiarity with statistical analysis and experimentation frameworks
- Experience with Python or R for data analysis
- Background working closely with operations or product teams to improve processes
- Demonstrated ability to leverage AI and automation to transform data in actionable insights
WORKING REMOTELY AT STRIPE
A remote location is defined as being 35 miles (56 kilometers) or more from one of our offices. While you would be welcome to come into the office for team/business meetings, on-sites, meet-ups, and events, our expectation is you would regularly work from home rather than a Stripe office. Stripe does not cover the cost of relocating to a remote location. We encourage you to apply for roles that match the location where you currently live or plan to live.
PAY AND BENEFITS
The annual US base salary range for this role is $112,700 - $169,100. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Stripe and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and location. Applicants interested in this role and who are not located in the US may request the annual salary range for their location during the interview process.
Additional benefits for this role may include: equity, company bonus or sales commissions/bonuses; 401(k) plan; medical, dental, and vision benefits; and wellness stipends.

Map your degree to the role
H-1B approval for Insights Analyst positions turns on whether your degree field directly aligns with the role. A statistics, economics, or data science degree strengthens your case. A general business degree may trigger an RFE without strong coursework documentation.
Look up prevailing wage tiers before negotiating
Your employer must pay at least the DOL prevailing wage for your location and job level. Use the OFLC Wage Search to check Level I through Level IV wage tiers for Insights Analyst roles before you enter offer negotiations.
Target employers with LCA filing history
Filter your job search to companies that have already filed Labor Condition Applications for analytics roles. Migrate Mate surfaces verified H-1B filing history by employer and occupation, so you can focus on sponsors with a proven track record.
Verify the specialty occupation framing in your offer letter
Your offer letter and job description must frame the Insights Analyst role as requiring a specific degree, not just preferring one. Vague language like 'bachelor's preferred' in official documents has caused USCIS RFEs even when the employer intended to sponsor.
Check your employer's E-Verify enrollment status
USCIS requires H-1B employers to use E-Verify. Confirm your prospective employer is enrolled before accepting an offer. An employer that isn't enrolled cannot legally file your H-1B petition, regardless of their stated intent to sponsor.
H-1B Visa Insights Analyst: Frequently Asked Questions
Does an Insights Analyst role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B purposes?
Yes, provided the position requires at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field such as statistics, data science, economics, or business analytics. USCIS evaluates the job duties and the degree requirement together. Roles where any bachelor's degree is acceptable, regardless of field, are more likely to face an RFE challenging specialty occupation status.
Which industries sponsor H-1B visas for Insights Analyst positions most regularly?
Technology, financial services, healthcare, consumer goods, and market research firms consistently file H-1B petitions for Insights Analyst roles. These industries rely heavily on structured data interpretation, which aligns well with the specialty occupation standard. You can browse open H-1B-sponsored Insights Analyst roles filtered by employer filing history on Migrate Mate.
How does the H-1B cap lottery affect Insights Analyst applicants?
Most private-sector Insights Analyst positions fall under the annual H-1B cap, which covers 65,000 regular-cap slots plus 20,000 slots reserved for U.S. master's degree holders. Registration opens each March and USCIS selects petitions by lottery if demand exceeds the cap, which it has every recent fiscal year. Cap-exempt employers such as universities and certain nonprofits can file outside the lottery window.
What documentation strengthens an H-1B petition for an Insights Analyst?
Your employer's petition should include a detailed job description linking specific duties to your degree field, your official transcripts, and any relevant credentials such as certifications in SQL, Python, or analytics platforms. If your degree title doesn't match the role precisely, a credential evaluation from a NACES-member organization and a letter from an expert in the field can help establish the connection for USCIS.
Can an Insights Analyst on H-1B change employers mid-status?
Yes. Under H-1B portability rules established by the American Competitiveness in the 21st Century Act, or AC21, you can start working for a new employer as soon as they file a non-frivolous H-1B transfer petition, without waiting for approval, as long as your current H-1B has been approved for at least 180 days. The new employer must file before your current authorized stay expires.
