H-1B Visa IT Recruiter Jobs
IT Recruiter roles fall under USCIS's specialty occupation standard, which means your employer must file an H-1B petition and a certified Labor Condition Application before you start work. Staffing firms, tech companies, and enterprise HR departments all sponsor this role, and the position's degree requirement is the detail that determines approvability.

Document the degree-to-role connection
USCIS scrutinizes IT Recruiter petitions because some officers challenge whether the role requires a bachelor's degree in a specific field. Gather transcripts and a job description that explicitly ties your HR, business, or information systems degree to the technical recruiting function.
Target employers already filing LCAs
Use Migrate Mate to filter IT Recruiter openings by verified H-1B filing history, so you're applying to companies that have already navigated the LCA and specialty occupation approval process for this exact role.
Distinguish staffing firms from end-client employers
If a staffing agency wants to sponsor you, confirm they'll list themselves as the employer of record on the LCA, not the client company. USCIS requires the petitioning employer to control your day-to-day work, which staffing arrangements can complicate.
Verify the prevailing wage tier before accepting an offer
Run the offered salary against the OFLC Wage Search using SOC code 13-1071 and your work location. The LCA must certify at least the Level I prevailing wage, and a below-threshold offer forces the employer to either renegotiate or withdraw the petition.
Negotiate your start date around the H-1B cap timeline
If you need a new cap-subject H-1B, the earliest employment start date is October 1 of the fiscal year following a March lottery win. Build this nine-month gap into your offer negotiation so neither side is surprised by the delay.
Request premium processing for recruiting-cycle roles
IT Recruiter hiring often tracks corporate budget cycles, and a standard processing timeline of several months can cause you to miss a team's open headcount. Ask your employer to file Form I-907 with USCIS to get a decision within 15 business days.

Find IT Recruiter JobsIT Recruiter H-1B Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does an IT Recruiter role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B purposes?
It can, but approval is not automatic. USCIS evaluates whether the position normally requires a bachelor's degree in a specific field such as human resources, business administration, or information systems. A generic recruiter role that accepts any degree is more likely to receive a Request for Evidence. The strongest petitions pair a narrowly defined job description with a degree that directly maps to the technical recruiting function.
Which types of employers sponsor H-1B visas for IT Recruiters?
Large technology companies, enterprise staffing firms, and corporations with dedicated talent acquisition departments are the most consistent sponsors. Smaller agencies sponsor less frequently because the legal and filing costs are proportionally higher for their revenue. Migrate Mate lets you search IT Recruiter openings filtered by verified H-1B filing history, so you're targeting companies that have already cleared this path for the role.
Can a staffing agency sponsor my H-1B as an IT Recruiter?
Yes, but the arrangement gets additional USCIS scrutiny. The staffing firm must be the employer of record, must have the right to control your work, and must be the entity listed on the Labor Condition Application. If you'll be placed at a client site, the petition needs to document why the staffing firm, not the client, qualifies as the true employer under USCIS guidelines.
What happens to my H-1B status if my IT Recruiter role is eliminated?
You have a 60-day grace period from your last day of employment to find a new sponsoring employer, change to another valid immigration status, or depart the U.S. During this window, you aren't authorized to work. If a new employer files an H-1B transfer petition with USCIS before the grace period ends, you can start working for them once the petition is received and a receipt notice is issued.
How does the H-1B prevailing wage requirement affect IT Recruiter job offers?
Before your employer can file the Labor Condition Application, they must certify with DOL that your offered salary meets or exceeds the prevailing wage for the IT Recruiter occupation in your work location. The applicable SOC code is typically 13-1071. You can cross-check any offer using the OFLC Wage Search before signing, and if the salary falls below the certified level, the employer must correct it or the LCA will be denied.
