Verify your degree satisfies specialty occupation
USCIS requires your degree field to directly relate to campaign management. A marketing, communications, or business degree typically qualifies. A general liberal arts degree may trigger an RFE, so gather transcripts and a credential evaluation before applying.
Check prevailing wage before negotiating offers
Your employer's LCA must certify a wage at or above the DOL prevailing wage for your metro area and experience level. Run your job title through OFLC Wage Search before accepting an offer so you know the floor going in.
Target employers with dedicated marketing departments
Companies with in-house brand, demand generation, or performance marketing teams file H-1B petitions for campaign roles far more consistently than agencies or small businesses. Use Migrate Mate to filter employers by verified LCA filing history for this occupation.
Confirm your SOC code appears on the LCA
Marketing Campaign Manager roles are commonly filed under SOC 11-2021 (Advertising and Promotions Managers) or 11-2022 (Marketing Managers). Ask your employer which code they plan to use. A mismatched SOC code is a common RFE trigger for this title.
Time your application around cap-subject deadlines
H-1B cap registrations open each March for an October 1 start date. If you're on OPT, your employer needs to file by April 1 so cap-gap protections cover any gap between your OPT expiration and your H-1B start date.
Document campaign ownership for the I-129 petition
USCIS scrutinizes whether the role genuinely requires a specialized degree. Your employer's I-129 support letter should describe specific deliverables you own, such as multi-channel campaign strategy or marketing analytics, not just general coordination duties.
H-1B Visa Marketing Campaign Manager: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Marketing Campaign Manager role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B purposes?
Yes, provided the position requires at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field such as marketing, communications, advertising, or business. Generic management roles that accept any degree can face USCIS scrutiny. Your employer should document in the I-129 petition that the role specifically requires specialized marketing knowledge, not just general business acumen.
Which employers sponsor H-1B visas for Marketing Campaign Manager positions?
Technology companies, large consumer brands, financial services firms, and healthcare organizations with in-house marketing departments file H-1B petitions for campaign management roles most consistently. Staffing agencies and small businesses sponsor at much lower rates for this title. Migrate Mate lets you search employers by verified LCA filing history so you can focus your applications where sponsorship is confirmed.
Can my employer file an H-1B petition if my job title is slightly different from Marketing Campaign Manager?
Yes. USCIS evaluates the actual job duties and degree requirement, not the title. Titles like Campaign Marketing Manager, Digital Campaign Manager, or Integrated Marketing Manager can all qualify under the same SOC code if the duties align. The LCA must list an accurate SOC code, and the I-129 support letter must describe duties that require a specialized degree.
What happens to my H-1B status if I move from a campaign manager role into a marketing director position at the same employer?
A material change in duties, title, or work location requires your employer to file an amended H-1B petition with USCIS before the change takes effect. Moving into a director role typically changes your SOC code, prevailing wage level, and job description, all of which trigger an amendment. You can start working in the new role only after the amended petition is filed, not after approval.
How does the DOL prevailing wage requirement affect offer negotiations for this role?
Your employer's LCA must certify that your offered wage meets or exceeds the DOL prevailing wage for Marketing Campaign Manager in your specific metro area at the applicable experience level. You can look up the applicable wage through OFLC Wage Search before negotiating. If an employer's offer falls below the prevailing wage, the LCA will not be certified, and the H-1B petition cannot proceed.
