Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding H-1B Visa Sponsorship as a Network Administrator
Verify your role meets specialty occupation
Pull the O*NET profile for Network Administrator and confirm your job duties map to the listed tasks. USCIS scrutinizes roles where a degree isn't explicitly required, so document how your specific responsibilities demand specialized knowledge.
Target employers with E-Verify enrollment
STEM OPT extensions require E-Verify-enrolled employers, but that enrollment also signals an employer's familiarity with work-authorization compliance. Prioritize companies already in the E-Verify system when evaluating sponsorship readiness.
Check prevailing wage before negotiating salary
Use the OFLC Wage Search to look up the Level I through Level IV wages for your metro area before accepting an offer. Your employer's LCA must certify at least the prevailing wage, so knowing the floor prevents surprises during filing.
Find H-1B sponsors using Migrate Mate
Search Network Administrator roles on Migrate Mate to filter employers with verified H-1B LCA filing history for this occupation. That narrows your search to companies that have already filed for roles like yours, not just employers that claim they sponsor.
Register before the March lottery deadline
H-1B cap registration opens in March each fiscal year. If your employer misses the registration window, you can't begin employment until October at the earliest. Confirm your hiring manager knows the timeline and has immigration counsel lined up by February.
Prepare network documentation for RFE response
USCIS issues Requests for Evidence on Network Administrator petitions questioning whether the role requires a specialized degree. Keep architecture diagrams, project scopes, and vendor certifications that demonstrate the technical complexity your employer's network demands.
H-1B Visa Network Administrator: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Network Administrator role qualify for H-1B sponsorship?
Yes, Network Administrator positions qualify when the employer can demonstrate the role requires at minimum a bachelor's degree in a specific technical field such as computer science, information systems, or network engineering. Generic job descriptions listing a degree as preferred rather than required create RFE risk, so the offer letter and LCA must clearly state the degree requirement.
How do I find employers that sponsor H-1B visas for Network Administrator jobs?
Migrate Mate lets you browse Network Administrator openings filtered by employers with documented H-1B LCA filing history, so you're only seeing companies that have sponsored workers in comparable roles. You can also cross-reference DOL disclosure data to see how many LCAs a particular employer has certified for this occupation code before applying.
What happens to my H-1B status if my Network Administrator job is eliminated?
You have a 60-day grace period after your employment ends to find a new sponsoring employer, file for a change of status, or depart the U.S. Your new employer must file a new H-1B petition if they aren't cap-exempt. If you're within the cap year and your new employer is subject to the lottery, portability under AC21 doesn't apply since you haven't completed 180 days in approved status.
Can my employer sponsor my H-1B while I'm working on OPT as a Network Administrator?
Yes, and this is the standard path for most F-1 students. Your employer registers you in the March lottery while you're on OPT, and if selected, files the full petition for an October 1 start. If your OPT expires before October 1 and you have at least 60 days remaining under the cap-gap rule, your authorization automatically bridges the gap.
What prevailing wage level applies to Network Administrator H-1B petitions?
Most entry-level Network Administrator roles are certified at Level I or Level II prevailing wages, which correspond to positions requiring routine tasks under supervision versus roles requiring more judgment. Your employer determines the level based on your specific duties and experience using the OFLC Wage Search. Filing at a wage below the certified prevailing wage is a compliance violation that can trigger DOL audits.
