H-1B Visa Project Scheduler Jobs
Project Scheduler roles qualify for H-1B sponsorship as specialty occupations requiring at least a bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field. Employers in construction, defense, and infrastructure regularly file LCAs for these positions. The annual H-1B cap and lottery apply, so timing your job search around the April filing window matters.

Match your degree to SOC codes
Project Scheduler roles map to SOC code 11-3012 or 13-1082 depending on the employer's framing. Confirm your degree field aligns with the occupation USCIS will evaluate, since a mismatch between your credentials and the SOC code is a common RFE trigger.
Pull LCA data for scheduler-heavy industries
Defense contractors, engineering firms, and general contractors file the most LCAs for scheduler roles. Search Migrate Mate by job title and industry to identify employers with active H-1B filing history specifically for Project Scheduler and related planning positions.
Verify prevailing wage before negotiating offers
Your employer's LCA must certify a wage at or above the DOL prevailing wage for your work location and SOC code. Run the OFLC Wage Search before salary discussions so you know the floor the employer is legally required to meet.
Target employers already enrolled in E-Verify
Federal contractors and subcontractors are required to use E-Verify, which also signals an established H-1B sponsorship process. Prioritizing these employers reduces the risk of working with HR teams unfamiliar with the LCA certification and I-129 filing timeline.
Check the O*NET profile before interviews
Review the O*NET occupation profile for Project Scheduler to confirm the listed tasks and required knowledge areas match your actual work history. USCIS evaluates whether your duties genuinely require a specialized degree, and the O*NET profile shapes how the specialty occupation argument is built.

Find Project Scheduler JobsProject Scheduler H-1B Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Project Scheduler role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B purposes?
Yes, if the employer can demonstrate the role requires at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field such as construction management, civil engineering, industrial engineering, or a related discipline. The challenge arises when job postings list the degree as preferred rather than required. USCIS evaluates the actual duties performed, so your employer's petition must show the complexity of the scheduling work demands specialized theoretical knowledge, not just software proficiency.
Which industries sponsor H-1B visas most often for Project Scheduler roles?
Defense contractors, infrastructure engineering firms, construction management companies, and large IT project management consultancies file the most H-1B petitions for Project Scheduler and related planning titles. Federal contractors are especially consistent sponsors because E-Verify enrollment and established HR compliance infrastructure make the H-1B process routine for them. You can browse employers with verified LCA filing history for these roles on Migrate Mate.
Can my employer file the H-1B petition for a remote Project Scheduler position?
Yes, but the LCA must list every location where you'll perform work, including your home address if you're working remotely. If you move or your employer changes your work site, an amended LCA and potentially an amended I-129 petition are required. This is a common compliance issue in project-based roles where schedulers are assigned to different job sites throughout a contract.
What happens to my H-1B status if I'm reassigned to a different project or client?
A change in work location or a material change in your job duties can require your employer to file an amended H-1B petition with USCIS before the change takes effect. For Project Schedulers who move between client sites, each new worksite in a different Metropolitan Statistical Area requires a new LCA posting. Failing to file an amendment when required is a compliance violation that affects both your status and your employer's ability to sponsor future workers.
How does the H-1B lottery affect Project Scheduler job seekers?
Project Scheduler roles are subject to the standard H-1B cap of 65,000 slots plus 20,000 for U.S. master's degree holders. USCIS runs the electronic registration lottery in March, and only selected registrants can have petitions filed for an October 1 start date. If you hold a U.S. master's degree in engineering or a related field, you're entered in both lottery pools, which improves your selection odds. Cap-exempt employers such as universities and certain nonprofits can file year-round.
