Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding H-1B Visa Sponsorship as a Quality Assurance Manager
Align your credentials to specialty occupation standards
USCIS requires your degree field to directly relate to QA management. A general business degree alone may trigger an RFE. Frame engineering, industrial technology, or quality systems coursework prominently in your resume and any employer petition support letters.
Target employers with active LCA filing history
Search Migrate Mate to filter Quality Assurance Manager roles by verified LCA filing history, so you're only applying to employers who've already navigated H-1B sponsorship for this title rather than ones encountering it for the first time.
Verify prevailing wage level before accepting an offer
Use the OFLC Wage Search to check the Level II through IV prevailing wage for your metro area under the QA Manager SOC code. If an employer's offer falls below the applicable level, their LCA won't be certified by DOL.
Prioritize employers in regulated industries
Pharmaceutical, medical device, aerospace, and automotive manufacturers depend on QA Managers for FDA, ISO, and FAA compliance. These employers sponsor H-1B visas more regularly because replacing a credentialed QA professional mid-project carries real regulatory risk.
Request a cap-exempt employer pathway if available
Universities and nonprofit research institutions that run quality or compliance functions sometimes hire QA Managers as cap-exempt H-1B employees, bypassing the annual lottery entirely. Ask whether the employer qualifies under USCIS cap-exempt rules before the offer stage.
Clarify I-9 and E-Verify setup before your start date
QA Managers often onboard into roles with immediate regulatory responsibilities. Confirm that your employer has completed E-Verify and that your I-94 admission record accurately reflects your authorized start date to avoid any gap in work authorization on day one.
H-1B Visa Quality Assurance Manager: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Quality Assurance Manager role qualify as an H-1B specialty occupation?
Yes, provided the position requires at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field such as engineering, quality systems, or operations management. USCIS evaluates the job duties, not just the title. If the role involves systems-level oversight, regulatory compliance, or technical QA methodology, it typically satisfies the specialty occupation standard. A job description that accepts any bachelor's degree regardless of field is the most common reason for an RFE on this title.
How do I find Quality Assurance Manager jobs where the employer already sponsors H-1B visas?
Migrate Mate filters Quality Assurance Manager roles by verified H-1B sponsorship history drawn from DOL LCA disclosures, so you can focus your search on employers who have filed for this specific title rather than guessing from job postings. That filing history is the most reliable signal that a company understands the process and has internal infrastructure to sponsor.
Which industries sponsor H-1B visas most often for QA Manager roles?
Pharmaceutical and biotech manufacturers, medical device companies, aerospace and defense contractors, and automotive suppliers file LCAs for QA Managers at the highest rates. These industries operate under FDA, FAA, ISO 9001, and IATF 16949 frameworks where a degreed QA professional is often a compliance requirement, not just a preference. Contract research organizations and semiconductor fabs are also consistent sponsors in this category.
What happens to my H-1B status if I'm promoted from QA Engineer to QA Manager?
A significant change in job duties, title, or SOC code typically requires an amended H-1B petition before you begin working in the new role. Your employer files the amendment with USCIS, which also triggers a new LCA at the prevailing wage for the manager-level SOC code. Working in a materially different role without an approved amendment puts your status at risk, so confirm with your employer's immigration counsel before the promotion takes effect.
Can a Quality Assurance Manager position support a green card through PERM?
Yes, QA Manager roles are regularly sponsored through the PERM labor certification process under the EB-2 or EB-3 preference categories, depending on the degree requirement the employer sets. DOL requires the employer to conduct a genuine recruitment test and demonstrate no qualified U.S. workers are available. Because QA management requires specialized domain knowledge, employers in regulated industries often successfully complete PERM for this title, particularly where ISO or FDA expertise is a documented requirement.
