Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding H-1B Visa Sponsorship in Radiation Therapist
Search LCA filings by occupation code
Radiation Therapists fall under SOC code 29-2037. Run that code through the OFLC Wage Search to identify which employers have filed Labor Condition Applications for this role, giving you a verified list of active sponsors.
Target cancer centers over general hospitals
Comprehensive cancer centers and radiation oncology groups file H-1B petitions specifically for this role far more consistently than general hospitals. Academic medical centers affiliated with NCI-designated programs are particularly active sponsors.
Use Migrate Mate to filter verified sponsors
Pull up Radiation Therapist listings on Migrate Mate and filter by H-1B LCA filing history to see which employers have documented sponsorship activity for this specific role, not just general work visa experience.
Get your I-797 receipt before the April 1 deadline
H-1B cap-subject petitions are filed between April 1 and the cap date. Your employer must submit Form I-129 with all supporting documentation, including your ARRT certification and state license, before that window closes.
Request premium processing for clinical start dates
Most radiation oncology departments have fixed credentialing timelines. Ask your employer to file with premium processing through USCIS so you receive a decision within 15 business days, letting you align your start date with department onboarding schedules.

Find Radiation Therapist JobsRadiation Therapist H-1B Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Radiation Therapist role qualify as an H-1B specialty occupation?
Yes. USCIS consistently recognizes Radiation Therapist positions as specialty occupations because the role requires at minimum a bachelor's degree in radiation therapy or a closely related field. The O*NET profile confirms the degree requirement, and the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification further supports the specialty occupation argument in your petition.
Which types of employers most commonly sponsor H-1B visas for Radiation Therapists?
NCI-designated comprehensive cancer centers, academic medical centers with radiation oncology departments, and large regional hospital systems file H-1B petitions for this role most regularly. Freestanding radiation oncology practices also sponsor, though less frequently. You can identify active sponsors by reviewing DOL Labor Condition Application disclosures for SOC code 29-2037 on Migrate Mate, which surfaces employers with verified LCA filing history.
Do I need a state license before my H-1B petition is filed?
Most states require an active license to practice as a Radiation Therapist, and USCIS expects evidence of licensure or a clear path to licensure as part of the specialty occupation determination. If you hold an ARRT credential but haven't yet obtained the state license, your employer should submit documentation showing you've applied and meet all eligibility requirements.
Can a Radiation Therapist work at multiple sites on the same H-1B?
Yes, but each worksite location requires its own certified Labor Condition Application filed with the DOL. If your employer sends you to satellite clinics or affiliated cancer centers, they must file amended petitions or separate LCAs for each location. This is common in large health systems with multiple campuses, and failing to file correctly creates compliance risk for your status.
What happens to my H-1B status if my employer loses the radiation oncology contract?
If your employer terminates your H-1B employment, you enter a 60-day grace period to find a new sponsoring employer, change to another valid status, or depart the U.S. A new employer must file an H-1B transfer petition before the 60 days expire. Because Radiation Therapist roles are in consistent demand, starting your search immediately through a platform like Migrate Mate gives you the best chance of finding a sponsor within that window.
