Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding H-1B Visa Sponsorship in Radiology Technologist
Check state licensure requirements early
Fourteen states require a separate radiologic technologist license beyond ARRT certification. Confirm the licensing requirement in your target state before accepting an offer, since unlicensed status can delay your H-1B start date.
Target employers with active LCA filing history
Use Migrate Mate to filter for imaging employers who have filed Labor Condition Applications for Radiology Technologist roles. LCA history signals an employer already understands the DOL wage attestation process and is set up to sponsor.
Use the OFLC Wage Search to benchmark your offer
Before signing an offer letter, look up the prevailing wage for your SOC code and geographic area in the OFLC Wage Search. Your offered wage must meet or exceed the applicable wage level or DOL will reject the LCA.
Distinguish modality credentials in your petition
If you hold specialty credentials in CT, MRI, or mammography alongside your primary ARRT registration, ensure your employer lists the specific modality in the LCA job description. Broader scope documentation reduces the likelihood of an RFE on specialty occupation grounds.

Find Radiology Technologist JobsRadiology Technologist H-1B Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Radiology Technologist role qualify as an H-1B specialty occupation?
Yes, provided the employer requires at least a bachelor's degree in radiologic technology, medical imaging, or a closely related field. Most hospital systems and imaging centers specify this degree requirement in the job posting, which satisfies the specialty occupation definition USCIS applies when reviewing the petition. Associate-degree-only positions do not qualify.
How do I find employers who sponsor H-1B visas for Radiology Technologist positions?
Migrate Mate filters job listings by employers with verified H-1B Labor Condition Application filing history, so you can identify imaging centers, hospital networks, and teleradiology companies that have actually sponsored technologists before. Searching this way is more reliable than filtering by self-reported sponsorship willingness on generic job boards.
Does my ARRT certification help or hurt my H-1B petition?
It helps significantly. USCIS evaluates whether a role genuinely requires specialized, theoretical knowledge attained through a bachelor's degree. ARRT certification, particularly with advanced modality credentials, reinforces that the role demands more than a generalist or vocational qualification. Include your ARRT registration category and any specialty credentials in the petition support letter.
Can I work additional modalities under a single H-1B petition?
Your H-1B petition covers the duties and job title listed on the approved LCA. If your employer wants you to perform work in a modality not described in the original petition, they typically need to file an amended petition. Discuss scope of duties explicitly during offer negotiations so the LCA accurately captures all expected responsibilities from day one.
What happens to my H-1B status if my employer loses a hospital contract?
If your employer terminates your H-1B before the approval period ends, you enter a 60-day grace period to find a new sponsoring employer, file a change of status, or depart. A new employer can file an H-1B transfer petition, and you can start working for them once USCIS receives the petition, not just after approval, under portability rules.
